Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, said that officers performing tasks in remote and risky areas need to strictly follow military discipline, quickly integrate, demonstrate the capacity of Vietnamese officers, and unite the army and people in the area.

By January 2024, Vietnam had sent 799 officers and staff to participate in UN peacekeeping operations at 3 missions and the UN Headquarters, including 792 military officers and 7 police officers. Of the 83 officers who returned home after completing their term, 25 were assessed by the United Nations as having completed their tasks excellently and were awarded certificates of merit.

The MINUSCA Mission in the Central African Republic was established in April 2014. Currently, 43 countries have sent forces to the Mission, including Vietnam, with the mission of protecting civilians and supporting the transition of power in the Central African Republic in the context of many armed groups operating. Most of the Central African Republic's territory is in the hands of armed groups and 60% of the country's population needs assistance.

The Republic of South Sudan is struggling with violence, natural disasters, economic instability, and political and military conflict. UNMISS is the largest UN peacekeeping mission with nearly 18,000 personnel. Its annual budget is over $1.2 billion, accounting for one-fifth of the UN peacekeeping budget.

The Abyei region covers an area of 10,546 km2 and is disputed between Sudan and South Sudan following the 2005 civil war. The UNISFA mission was established to maintain, ensure security, safety and prevent conflicts and disputes between the two countries.
