The State Securities Commission (SSC) has just issued a decision to administratively fine Mr. Nguyen Hai Chau nearly VND75.4 million and suspend securities trading activities for 2 months due to trading outside the prescribed information disclosure period. The penalty will be effective from the time this penalty decision takes effect.
Specifically, the Hanoi Stock Exchange announced that Mr. Nguyen Hai Chau, Chairman of Everest Securities JSC (HNX: EVS) registered to buy 1.2 million EVS shares from November 8 to November 30, 2022. However, on November 7, 2022, Mr. Chau bought more than 1 million EVS shares, equivalent to more than 10 billion VND at par value.

By the end of 2023, Mr. Nguyen Hai Chau owned 6.5 million EVS shares, equivalent to 3.94% of Everest Securities' charter capital. Everest Securities, formerly known as Ocean Securities JSC, was established in 2006. In the first 3 months of 2024, the company recorded operating revenue of VND 51.2 billion, down more than VND 10 billion compared to the same period in 2023.
However, with the loss of financial assets through profit and loss (FVTPL) decreasing from VND66.68 billion to VND2.36 billion, Everest's total operating expenses in the first quarter of 2024 decreased by 82% to VND15.5 billion. After deducting taxes and fees, Everest reported a profit after tax of VND15 billion, much higher than the loss of VND35.4 billion in the first quarter of 2023.
