Russia-Ukraine war today, November 2, 2024: The war in Ukraine could cool down if Mr. Trump is elected - the US presidential candidate has made such a commitment.

Former US State Department special representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker believes that if Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wins the election, he could ask Russia to withdraw its troops from the special military operation zone right before he takes office.

Mr. Volker believes that the former White House leader “could call Russian President Vladimir Putin and ask for the withdrawal, for example, before January 20, the day the new US president is inaugurated. Mr. Trump would not take such a step immediately after the presidential election scheduled for November 5, but later.

Mr Volker also called for thinking about what happens after 2025, when the conflict in Ukraine may end.

Trump blames Ukrainian president for starting conflict

Trump said that Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky was personally responsible for starting the conflict with Russia. The Ukrainian leader “should never have allowed this to start.” However, Trump said that this “doesn’t mean he doesn’t want to help Ukraine.” Trump also called President Zelensky the greatest salesman.

Every time he shows up, we give him $100 billion. Who else in history has gotten that kind of money? ”, Donald Trump said.

Ukrainian President Zelensky said that if Trump wins the election, he will not be able to convince Kiev to make territorial concessions to end the conflict.

The Ukrainian president also acknowledged the risk that the US would stop providing military support to Kiev after Mr. Trump was elected president.

There are risks. That is why Ukraine has its own internal plan on how to strengthen its power. It will be extremely difficult in the future ,” Mr. Zelensky stressed.

However, Mr Zelensky added that the former US leader did not directly talk about his intention to stop helping Ukraine if elected.

Trump claims he has the ability to prevent World War III

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that if elected, he would help prevent a third world war. After meeting with the Ukrainian president, Trump said that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris could not resolve the conflict in Ukraine.

“If I am elected, the war between Ukraine and Russia will end quickly. If not, this war will never end and will develop into World War III,” Mr. Donald Trump emphasized.

In September 2024, Mr. Trump also promised to end the conflict in Ukraine if he wins the presidential election this fall. He has a “very ambitious” plan to ensure an end to the conflict in Ukraine, but he will only reveal it if he wins.

Mr Trump declined to reveal details of the plan for fear of not being able to carry it out. He added that a key part of the initiative was surprise: “If I win, I guarantee you as president-elect that we will make a deal. This war should never have happened…”

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that Trump sincerely wants to end the conflict in Ukraine. He also stated that the future of Russia-US relations now depends on Washington itself.

Weather turns to winter, fighting in Kursk cools down

According to Rybar channel, on the Kursk front, the intensity of fighting has decreased relatively in the past few days. This is also evidenced by images from the front line.

In the Glushkovo district, the front line has not changed significantly and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have paused the offensive on Russian-controlled positions, while the offensive in the Novy Put area is still ongoing.

In the Korenevo district, Russian troops have approached the dam across the Snagost River, near Lyubimovka, to close the encirclement around Tolstoy Lug. However, there are no confirmed images from the field.

In the Sudzha district, Russian Pacer UAVs attacked AFU armored vehicles in Malaya Loknya with UАB-20 guided bombs, marking the 12th case of this UAV weapon being used.

In addition, Russia continued to attack AFU positions deep in the rear in the Sumy region. A Ukrainian CAESAR self-propelled gun was hit by a Lancet UAV south of Varanchino. An Iskander ballistic missile attack on an AFU concentration at Yablonovka was also recorded.

Russia breaks through towards Kurakhovo

Rybar channel reported that the Russian army carried out a number of raids on targets in the rear areas at the front, including the destruction of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry facility in Kharkov.

The AFU responded by carrying out a UAV attack on Russian fuel and energy facilities in the Stavropol region. Another UAV crashed into a residential building in Bryansk.

In the southern direction of Donetsk, Russian troops took control of Novokrainka, Yasna Poliana and drove out AFU defense units from the western outskirts of Shakhtarsk.

The RVvoenkory channel reported that Russian troops broke into Maksimovka between Ugledar and Kurakhovo.

" In the direction of Ugledar, the situation remains very serious. Fighting continues in the Maksimovka and Trudovoy areas. In fact, fighting has already reached Uspenovka... There are two relatively convenient directions to reach Kurakhove from the south, namely Ekaterinovka, as well as Uspenovka ," writes Ukrainian analyst Bogdan Miroshnikov.

" The terrain of this area is very complex with many large rivers and lakes, interspersed with swamps. Previously, the terrain could be a significant obstacle, but now it is not. The Russian side will try to approach Konstantinople. If successful, they will close the siege on Kurakhove ," Mr. Miroshnikov commented.
