This is a project implemented nationwide towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and to promote historical and cultural sites across the country, contributing to promoting tourism development in Vietnam.
In Quang Binh, there are 3 famous historical, cultural and scenic sites selected by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to install NFC chip panels, including: Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (World Natural Heritage) in Phong Nha town (Bo Trach); Quang Binh Quan (national monument) in Dong Hai ward (Dong Hoi city) and Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple (provincial monument) in Quang Dong commune (Quang Trach).
At the above locations, NFC chip panels are installed in prominent, easily accessible locations. When traveling here, visitors using their phones to interact with the NFC chip panels will be certified to have checked-in at the location, save personal photos, and receive useful information about the location, monuments or destinations.
Each chip-embedded board will provide stories, images, videos or 3D models of the location or monument where the chip-embedded board is located; provide search, navigation and information features to explore tourist attractions at the current location and surrounding areas.
Head of the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Quang Trach district, Tran Thi Van, said: The installation of an NFC chip board at Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple during the Hoanh Son Holy Mother Festival in Quang Trach district has a special meaning, helping visitors to explore and have unique experiences to learn more about the history, culture and beliefs here.
Ms. Phan My Ha, a tourist from Nghe An province, shared: “I am very happy to be one of the first visitors to access the chip board when visiting Lieu Hanh Temple. With the NFC chip board, information about the relic site and surrounding tourist destinations automatically appeared via a link to the website “Love Vietnam” so that I can learn about the information of the place I am visiting. In particular, I am impressed with the feature that when accessing the website, I can upload photos of my experiences and write my feelings at the place I am visiting for the program.”
Director of Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourism Center Hoang Minh Thang said that the project's support is very useful in promoting tourism of Phong Nha-Ke Bang World Natural Heritage. This is a new technology to connect tourists and heritage, so he suggested that tour guides update how to exploit information via NFC to guide tourists to experience services and information when coming to Phong Nha-Ke Bang.
According to Deputy Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism Mai Xuan Thanh: “The project “Love Vietnam” deploying the installation of NFC chip boards will be one of the tools for the provincial Department of Culture and Tourism to implement the digital transformation strategy, combining official information and data with technology and creative ideas to vividly and effectively propagate historical and cultural events. From there, it contributes to connecting and promoting historical, cultural and scenic sites of Quang Binh with famous sites across the country, from Ha Giang to Ca Mau”.
