On the evening of April 12, Ms. Hoang Thi Nghi, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu town (Binh Lieu district) said that the forest fire broke out at around 7:00 p.m. the same day in sub-area 291 (in Khe Boc area, bordering Pac Lieng and Co Nhan areas of the town).
Currently, some areas such as Na Ke and Co Nhan have been controlled. However, according to Ms. Nghi, due to the rugged terrain and strong winds, some areas are still burning, such as Khe Boc and Pac Lieng.
“There are about 300 people on site who are spreading out to many places to put out the fire. The strong wind is causing the fire to rotate, making it very difficult to put out the fire,” said Ms. Nghi.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Lieu town added that due to the difficult terrain, fire trucks of the fire prevention and fighting force could not reach the scene. The on-site fire force had to scoop up buckets of water to moisten and prevent the fire from spreading. At the same time, people moved fallen trees away from the fire site.
At around 8pm the same day, a forest fire also broke out in Dai Yen area, Ha Long city. The fire spread to nearby houses. At 9pm, it rained in the area so the fire was extinguished.
According to statistics, after storm No. 3 until now, in Quang Ninh, there have been about 50 fires, damaging dozens of hectares of forest of ground cover, acacia, eucalyptus, pine, affecting fire safety, threatening the environment, water source safety...
