(NLDO)- Teaching is a special profession, and the job of a flight instructor at Bay Viet Pilot School is even more special.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Lan started working in the aviation industry in 1989 as an air traffic controller at Tan Son Nhat, Lien Khuong, Cam Ranh, Can Tho, and Rach Gia airports. In 1997, he was transferred to the Vietnam Aviation School, now the Vietnam Aviation Academy, as a part-time air traffic controller teacher.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Lan has been involved in the aviation industry for nearly 30 years, including more than 10 years as a lecturer teaching commercial pilot theory.

During his time teaching at the school, he was exposed to many flight instructors as well as interesting knowledge about aviation. He did not know when he fell in love with airplanes and the sky. After that, he tried to learn and study about this field and officially became a theory teacher at Bay Viet Pilot School in 2011.

Teaching is a special profession, but being a flight instructor is even more special because he has to teach his students to ensure the safety of hundreds of lives on each flight. Mr. Lan said he always maintains key principles in the teaching process.

Firstly, he always teaches his students to ensure discipline in complying with regulations and implementing work procedures because being a pilot is a special profession, even a small mistake can affect the lives of hundreds of people.

Second, he trains students to be persistent and overcome difficulties. "You may always see the pilot profession as a glamorous profession with privileges such as traveling around the world with an attractive salary, but few people know that to have those things, pilots must undergo a rigorous and long-term training process. Therefore, in addition to imparting knowledge, I also impart passion so that students can be steadfast in their goals and persevere in overcoming difficulties," Lan shared.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Lan confided that the biggest difficulty for the flight instructor profession is knowledge because in the aviation industry, technology is constantly changing, forcing you to always update yourself so as not to fall behind. However, at Bay Viet, teachers participate in many training courses and are updated with technology every day, so everything is no longer too difficult.

"Moreover, I really love this job, I do it with 100% enthusiasm and passion, so I can overcome all difficulties. If I don't stand on the podium and meet my students for a week, I feel restless and miss my job. This job has become an indispensable part of my life" - flight instructor Nguyen Phuc Lan confided.

Mr. Nguyen Phuc Lan said that on a flight as a passenger, when he heard the captain's name announced on the radio, he realized that the pilot was his former student. He found it very interesting and kept smiling to himself for almost the entire flight that lasted more than an hour.

When the plane landed, the passenger sitting next to me burst out in praise: "The Vietnamese pilot landed so smoothly!". At that moment, no words could describe his feelings, a little bit of pride mixed with honor and happiness. At that moment, he just wanted to show off to that passenger: "He is my student!".

For more than 10 years standing on the podium as a teacher, Mr. Lan cannot remember how many classes of students he has taught. For him, the greatest success is the success and progress of his students - the future pilots. That is also the motivation that makes him stand on the podium every day.

To become a pilot, you first need to carefully study the educational and health requirements to ensure that you meet the job requirements. In addition, you also need to accept the characteristics of the job such as often having to work on holidays and Tet; the body's biological rhythm changes... But certainly, being a pilot will give you extremely interesting experiences.
