Having been recruited as a civil servant for less than 8 months, the Central Youth Union official temporarily put aside his work, joined the army, and rewrote his dream of wearing the green uniform of a soldier.

Pham Trung Anh - a specialist of the Youth Front Department - Central Youth Union - was both happy and nervous when he received his military enlistment notice. Trung Anh is from Nghia Hong commune, Nghia Hung (Nam Dinh), his parents are farmers.
Dream of joining the army
Trung Anh said the most solemnly placed object in his family's living room was his grandfather's resistance medal. The paper certificate had turned as yellow as the earth, the silver medal had turned silver over the years. The story about him told by his uncles appeared in Trung Anh's memory as a soldier in a plain shirt, skinny, his face stained with gunpowder, charging with his comrades through storms of bombs and bullets.
Trung Anh admires him and the soldiers. The Youth Union officer clearly remembers every detail and every frame in a documentary about the resistance war against the US to unify the country. “The unforgettable impression in me is the saying of veteran Quach Minh Son: “Freedom and peace are not easy, try to keep it!”. His words still urge me to live responsibly, have dreams and constantly strive and try” - Pham Trung Anh shared.

Trung Anh graduated from the University of Transport and worked at the Hanoi Youth Union for several years. He passed the civil service exam and became a specialist at the Youth Front Department - Central Youth Union.
The young officer's decision to pass the civil service exam had just dried when he received another decision to join the army.
Trung Anh confided: “I was very emotional when I received the decision. I will have 2 years away from my office, away from work, away from family... But I use that as motivation to live my life to the fullest during the 2 years of military service.”

The Youth Union officer neatly folded his azure shirt, straightened his green shirt, and adjusted the bright yellow five-pointed star on his newly received hat. Trung Anh was born in 2000, and when he was in 12th grade, he dreamed of becoming a military pilot.
The little student at that time dreamed of one day flying in the deep blue sky on a Mig21 like the films he watched about the glorious feats in the sky of Hanoi in the 70s of the last century.
Trung Anh passed a series of strict requirements when recruiting military pilots. When it came time to discuss his wishes with his family, the muscular, handsome young man from Nghia Hung sadly put his dream aside and went to university to start a career as his parents wished.
Dream of joining the army to improve myself
During his university years, Trung Anh was active in the Youth Union movements. He was accepted to work at the Hanoi Youth Union after graduation. His dream of wearing the green army uniform and flying into the deep blue sky had not yet faded.

The day he received the call-up order, Trung Anh was both happy and worried. He was happy because he had the opportunity to continue his dream of joining the army. He took a photo and sent it to his parents to show them. His father looked at the order, pondered for a moment, then smiled and congratulated his son. He said the military environment was a place for Trung Anh to continue training, to become stronger and more steadfast in the future.
Trung Anh passed the civil service exam, all his benefits were guaranteed by his agency. After his military service, he returned to his old job. His friends also tried to dissuade him, saying that those two years would be interrupted while he was striving for work.

The new soldier just smiled, if he could have a fulfilling life in the army with Trung Anh, it would be an opportunity and not a hindrance.
“I think that if you want to strive, you must first practice to improve yourself. The military environment is a disciplined environment, this is a motivation, a good opportunity for me to strive, contribute and improve myself,” Trung Anh said.
