According to reporters, on the morning of May 1, at the scene of the fire in Nam Thai commune and Nam Dan town, Nam Dan district, although the fire had been controlled, there were still smoke rising at some points due to the remnants of the fire not being completely extinguished.
Faced with that situation, the functional forces including officers and soldiers of the Nam Dan District Military Command, communes, militia and self-defense forces, and forest rangers continued to use blowers and fire-extinguishing tools to sweep the remaining areas and prevent the fire from re-igniting.
Mr. Ho Viet Binh - Commander of the Military Command of Nam Anh Commune, Nam Dan District said: Although the fire did not occur in our area, however, when we heard about the fire in Nam Thai Commune and Nam Dan Town, we immediately went to the scene to help put out the fire. Experience from forest fire fighting shows that the remnants of the fire are especially dangerous and must be completely extinguished, because if the wind blows strongly, the remnants will fly to another location, if there is thick vegetation or pine resin, it will become a new fire, then it will be even more difficult...
Although it is a holiday, officers, soldiers and functional forces of Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts are still on duty 24/7 to ensure that fires do not break out and keep the forests of their homeland green.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Trinh - Deputy Commander of the Nam Dan District Military Command said: Although it is a holiday, the brothers in the unit are always ready to support localities and people to put out forest fires. On May 1, although the fire was extinguished, we still divided into many shifts, each shift took turns going around the fire area, checking and reviewing the remnants, if there were any incidents, we would handle them promptly.
Currently, Nghe An province has directed units, forces, authorities of Nam Dan and Thanh Chuong districts and people to continue to raise vigilance, not to be subjective because the weather is still unpredictable, with peak heat. Units are required to continue to assign people to be on duty 24/24 hours, to prevent fires from breaking out again. For forests near residential areas and warehouses, when a fire occurs, it is necessary to proactively have a plan to evacuate people from dangerous areas, and have measures to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and forces participating in forest fire fighting.
After extinguishing the fire, local authorities are requested to direct relevant agencies to urgently investigate, determine the cause and perpetrator of the fire, and strictly handle violators according to regulations./.
