Van Dung is one of the artists who played Tao Quan from the very first episodes. Over the past 20 years, she has played many different Tao roles, but perhaps the one that has left the strongest impression on the audience is still the role of Tao Y te.
To television audiences, she is the number one comedian in the North, a familiar face in television dramas. However, Van Dung's main job is as an actress at the Hanoi Drama Theater.
One of Van Dung's joys is that her only son - Long Vu - shares her love for acting and has become a young actor loved by the audience. Until now, she has been very secretive about her son's journey of pursuing art from studying at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema to shining on the screen.
Responding to reporters, the actress said: "Before, Long Vu had no achievements so I had no reason to show off my son. Long Vu once asked me why I didn't show off my son's certificates and medals online or share them with fans. I said that I didn't see him as good, his achievements were only at school, there are many people who are better than him outside. If he is good, people will see his glory wherever he stands, but if he is not good, no matter how he shows off, no one will notice."
In particular, Van Dung said that she has never used her influence to ask for roles for her children. All of Long Vu's roles were cast by him.
In a conversation with reporters, Long Vu also admitted this and added: "I just asked my mother that if she knew of any movies looking for actors, she should let me know. But every time I asked, my mother said she didn't know because she didn't go to castings."
After several supporting roles in the films Small Path to Life, My Family is Unexpectedly Happy, Not Afraid to Get Married Just Need a Reason, and The War Without Borders, Long Vu shined with the leading role in the film Walking in the Bright Sky . With this role, he was nominated for the VTV Awards.
Before her son's success, Van Dung shared: "Perhaps, in this world, there is no mother who is not happy to see her child have a little success. As for me, I must say I am very happy. For 23 years of raising my child, I have only waited for this day. I could not imagine that my son would surpass me.
In the past, it was not until I was 27 years old that the audience knew my name. This year, you are not yet 23 years old but have left a little impression in the hearts of the audience. It can be said that compared to actors, this success comes very early. I am happy but also worried because after that, what will Long Vu have left for the audience, so that the audience will always love and accompany you on the long road?".
Like Van Dung, her close colleague, People's Artist Cong Ly, is also happy to have a child to follow in her footsteps. Thuc Anh - the eldest daughter of "Co Dau" graduated from the directing department of the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema. After graduating, she worked as a production assistant and film crew secretary for VTV's Television Film Production Center (VFC).
In early 2024, Thuc Anh secretly made a graduation documentary film called Co mot chong sao with the main character being her father. The young female director wanted to bring different perspectives about People's Artist Cong Ly that the audience did not know. In the film, she shared about the biggest incident in her family, the period when People's Artist Cong Ly had a stroke. That was also the time when Thuc Anh realized how much she loved her father.
Sharing with reporters, People's Artist Cong Ly's daughter said that at first, her father did not support her when she pursued the 7th art: "When I was preparing to go to university, I asked my father about becoming an actress, but at that time he did not agree because he was worried that I would have a hard time and easily get into trouble. After that, I reaffirmed that I still wanted to pursue art, but I only wanted to stand behind the works and not be a performer.
I expressed my desire to become a director, but my father still did not really agree because this is a very difficult profession. But seeing my determination, he told me that if I like it, then I should do it. I think it's not that he doesn't like me doing art, he's just worried that I will have a hard time."
The young female director said that many people in the industry know that she is the daughter of People's Artist Cong Ly, but she is not favored but rather receives stricter treatment. The male artist also supports his daughter when doing homework in class.
The youngest son of People's Artist Cong Ly is also taking his first steps into acting. Although he did not study acting, Gia Bao has recently participated in a number of VFC films. MC Thao Van talked about his son's choice: "Please let Gia Bao try his hand, see if he can inherit some of his father's qualities... I hope he can learn many things from his uncles and aunts. He must have his father's genes, right?"
On the contrary, the two children of Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, although also from a family of artists (both father and mother - People's Artist Ngoc Huyen are good actors), did not pursue art. Minh Trung - the youngest son of "Traffic God" is currently a translator. Because of his famous parents, Minh Trung wants to make his own mark in his career. He chose the profession based on his love for books and his expertise in foreign languages.
"Translating books can help me make a certain impression and create some value to help young people," Minh Trung said. He currently has a stable career and lives happily with his wife and two lovely children.
Huyen Trang - the eldest daughter of Meritorious Artist Chi Trung is also very talented. She was a student at the Diplomatic Academy. After graduating, she went to Australia to study Marketing for another year and then returned to work for a foreign company.
"Traffic God" once expressed his pride in his daughter's ability, being financially independent and able to buy her own house at a young age. People's Artist Ngoc Huyen also occasionally shares her joy when her daughter gives her branded items.
Huyen Trang was married to her boyfriend of 9 years. However, after 3 years of living together, they could not find common ground and broke up. After the divorce, Chi Trung's daughter was very secretive about her private life.
