Singer Hong Vy’s family said she took her last breath at 2:25 p.m. on May 5. The singer’s passing left many people with deep sorrow for her relatives, friends, colleagues, and fans.

Possessing a rare beautiful soprano voice, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy is always one of the names that the public looks forward to in the theater's programs. Coming from the Army Theater, she became known to the audience from the Sao Mai 2001 contest, then Hong Vy transferred to the Vietnam Music and Dance Theater and then the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera.

In June 2019, she discovered that she had a malignant disease in the final stage. After surgery and chemotherapy, the singer felt healthy again and continued with her work.

At the end of 2020, afraid that she didn't have much time left, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy focused on performing her first live show in Hanoi, sharing with the audience her ups and downs in music.

By March 2021, the illness became more severe and artist Hong Vy's health gradually declined.

After 4 years of fighting a serious illness, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy passed away at the age of 44.

In 2012, singer Hong Vy was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State. She is the daughter of singer - People's Artist Doan Tan.
