Speaking at the award ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia praised and highly appreciated the important achievements of the publishing team; congratulated the authors, publishers, and distributors who received the 7th National Book Award in 2024. According to the Head of the Central Propaganda Department, we can only firmly enter the new era - the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise, with a rich and solid knowledge foundation, based on the intelligence, mettle, and stature of the Vietnamese people. The publishing sector must contribute significantly to strongly arousing the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, and the aspiration to develop a rich and strong country. A Prize for the Long Years
The book Handbook of Diagnosis and Treatment of Internal Medicine , edited by Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Dao Xuan Co, won the A prize of the 2024 National Book Award, is a handbook written by many leading medical experts on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the establishment of Bach Mai Hospital. The book guides the diagnosis and treatment of common diseases in the field of internal medicine, with updated international knowledge and practical experience successfully implemented at this hospital. A book to transfer knowledge that is both modern and accumulated over many years. The editor of the book is currently the Director of Bach Mai Hospital, Vice Principal of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy (VNU Hanoi). The two remaining A prizes are also laborious books, looking back on long miles of history. The book Gia Dinh - Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City: Long Miles of History (1698 - 2020) , consisting of 2 volumes, was conceived by 104-year-old researcher Nguyen Dinh Tu for more than 20 years, helping to visualize more than 300 years of history of a land with many administrative, economic, cultural documents... of reliable origin. The collection of Military Writers - Proceedings - Works (5 volumes) was evaluated by the jury as a "historical work in writing" about the country and people of Vietnam throughout its turbulent history from war to peace.
New trends
The 2024 National Book Award also shows the recognition of a new generation of writers. That is the B prize for the book The Youth of Patriotic New Music by Nguyen Truong Quy, the C prize for the book Why We Love by Hien Trang. Both books show the direction of critical research, as well as the extensive knowledge of the authors. These are also two authors that Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Thach (VNU, Hanoi) classified into the third wave of Renovation in literary and artistic creation, along with other authors such as Nguyen Vinh Nguyen, Tran Nha Thuy... In their writing process, they not only exploit their life experiences but also work on cultural experiences, establishing dialogues with perspectives different from the generation of Bao Ninh, Nguyen Binh Phuong...
