To foster love and pride in the homeland for the younger generation, the work of educating local cultural and historical traditions has been given attention and innovation by all levels and sectors with many diverse methods, suitable to practical conditions.

Diversity of education forms at school

Not dry, not difficult to imagine about a historical figure, an event or a distant period..., the stories about King Dinh Tien Hoang, the emperor who laid the foundation for the founding of the first centralized feudal state in Vietnam, become familiar and easy to remember for students of Gia Vuong Primary and Secondary School through local education lessons.

Dinh Thu Dieu, an 8A student at Gia Vuong Primary and Secondary School, shared: Through short videos about historical and cultural sites in the district... along with historical stories, through the teacher's vivid and easy-to-understand way of communicating, I have a better understanding of the history of the locality, of King Dinh Tien Hoang, talented generals, and more respect and pride in the traditions of my homeland and country.

Teacher Nguyen Khac Cuong, Principal of Gia Vuong Primary and Secondary School, said: Along with the good implementation of local education, during the school years, the school's Board of Directors has directed teachers to strengthen traditional education for students by integrating and integrating with subjects, innovating teaching methods with vivid visual forms, helping students become more passionate and interested in learning content.

In addition, the school organizes exchange sessions for students to learn and give bilingual presentations about local history, draw pictures of historical sites and sites in the district, or perform skits about King Dinh Tien Hoang, Co lau tap truong, etc. Thereby, helping students gain basic knowledge about the historical and revolutionary traditions of Gia Vien, educating them to love their homeland and country.

Comrade Do Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Vien district, said: In recent years, most schools in the district have had specific plans to integrate into professional activities, seminars, and lessons in Literature, Civic Education, History, Geography, etc., content related to local heritage, historical and cultural relics. Not only listening to historical knowledge in class, students also participate in many activities to learn about the historical traditions of their homeland and country through competitions launched by the school, the Department of Education and Training, and the district, such as: Reed Flag Dance; Trang Nguyen Flower; "Nurturing Talents for Tour Guides" Contest, etc.

Improving the quality of education through experiential activities

In addition to implementing educational topics suitable for each level of education, Gia Vien district focuses on developing experiential activities, helping students get closer to heritage and understand history lessons in the most natural way.

Mr. Do Thang, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Gia Vien district, said: Starting from the 2022-2023 school year, most schools have brought students to learn history and experience relics in the area through the "Finding the Roots" tour. This is an experiential tour associated with the development of a plan to educate local traditions in schools, targeting students from schools in the district.

At each destination, students are introduced to the related characters being worshiped; they can see and feel the unique historical, cultural and sculptural values ​​contained in the artifacts. During each visit, some schools organize for students to write an introduction about the history of formation, measures to protect, preserve and promote the value of the relic. Through the "Finding the Roots" experience tour, it has contributed to innovating teaching and learning methods, improving the quality and effectiveness of local history education in schools; at the same time, raising awareness, patriotism, national pride, moral education, lifestyle, revolutionary ideals, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education in schools.

Along with focusing on education through experiential activities at local historical and cultural relics, on national and provincial anniversaries, traditional education is promoted by schools through many specific and practical activities such as: participating in environmental sanitation activities, visiting, giving gifts, offering incense to commemorate the merits of heroic martyrs... These practical and meaningful activities help students feel more clearly about historical and cultural values ​​and foster pride in the traditions of their homeland and country.
