The ASEAN Secretary General highly appreciated Vietnam's contributions to the ASEAN Community and the ASEAN Secretariat; expressed his confidence in continuing to receive Vietnam's support in carrying out his responsibilities as ASEAN Secretary General, especially in contributing to maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity of the ASEAN Community and ASEAN's relations with partners.
Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that Vietnam attaches importance to and highly appreciates the role of ASEAN as well as that of the Secretary-General himself; expressing his belief that under the leadership of Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn, the role of the ASEAN Secretariat will be continuously enhanced.
The Minister affirmed that Vietnam will closely coordinate with ASEAN members and the ASEAN Secretariat in strengthening ASEAN and ASEAN-led cooperation mechanisms, making ASEAN operate more effectively and adapt to the new situation.
The Minister suggested that the ASEAN Secretariat pay more attention to making cooperation with partners more substantive and effective, making practical contributions to fostering solidarity, unity, connectivity and the central role of ASEAN.

The two sides agreed that in the current profound changes in the international and regional situation, in order to continue promoting the role and position of ASEAN, they hoped that the ASEAN Secretariat would support the promotion of dialogue and cooperation with partners.
The Minister emphasized that to maintain ASEAN's role as the region's growth engine in the coming decades, ASEAN needs to build a strong economic pillar, both mobilizing resources from its members and effectively taking advantage of the attention and resources of its partners for the region to promote economic cooperation, investment, tourism, etc., making substantial contributions to the development and prosperity of the region.
