According to the definition of the World Green Building Council (WGBC), “Green Building” is a building that is designed, constructed, operated and maintained in an environmentally friendly manner, using resources economically and efficiently, while ensuring environmental quality, and the interior of the building meets the comfort and health conditions for users.
Understanding the values that “Green Buildings” bring to society and the economy, with the spirit of accompanying businesses in business investment based on a sustainable commitment to the environment, BIDV has allocated 10,000 billion VND for businesses to borrow capital to invest in new or expand “Green Buildings”, renovate existing buildings into “Green Buildings” and be granted one of the prestigious certificates: LEED, LOTUS, EDGE, Green Mark.
This program is implemented by BIDV nationwide. By participating in the program, businesses enjoy preferential project financing policies such as: preferential and attractive loan interest rates; diverse loan needs are met; disbursement is quick and timely; and consulting is provided by a team of experts and staff with high expertise in the field of project financing.
Following the success of the VND 4,200 billion Green Credit Package supporting textile and garment enterprises in the Green transition process, with this preferential capital funding program for "Green Construction" projects, BIDV continues to affirm its pioneering role in implementing the policies of the Government and the State Bank on green growth, green credit, joining hands with enterprises to create a green economy and with the community towards sustainable development.
As of March 31, 2024, BIDV's green credit balance reached VND 73,394 billion, accounting for 4% of the bank's total credit balance with 2,069 projects/business plans of 1,698 customers. Green credit is identified by BIDV as one of the top priority targets in its long-term business strategy. With the current green loan balance, BIDV plans to continue to increase its outstanding balance and green credit ratio annually and strive to maintain its position as one of the leading banks in terms of market share and scale of green credit provided to the market. |
