Yen Bai - After a field inspection at the facility, on the afternoon of August 11, comrade Do Duc Duy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, and the provincial working delegation had a working session with the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Mu Cang Chai district.

Reporting to the working delegation, the leaders of Mu Cang Chai district said that the recent flash floods and landslides have caused severe damage to people, houses, property of the people and public works in the district, especially serious in the communes of Khao Mang, Ho Bon, Lao Chai; the total estimated property damage is over 100 billion VND.

Immediately after heavy rain, flash floods and landslides occurred, Yen Bai province established working groups to grasp the situation and quickly direct solutions to overcome the consequences. Mu Cang Chai district mobilized over 2,000 people/day to participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; provided financial support to households with deceased people, arranged temporary accommodation for households whose houses were swept away or severely damaged; coordinated to find resettlement land for people. With the efforts of the education and transport sector, up to now, National Highway 32 from Mu Cang Chai town to Than Uyen district, Lai Chau province has been temporarily opened... The district basically restored communications and restored power on August 9...


Secretary of the District Party Committee Nong Viet Yen reported to the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee on the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the district.

However, due to the fragmented terrain, access to relief for people in flooded areas is difficult; Traffic routes are severely damaged, large volumes of earth and rock, along with prolonged heavy rain, have just been repaired but new landslides have arisen...

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Do Duc Duy said that although there were heavy losses, with good forecasting by the relevant agencies and proactive locality, overall losses in human lives and property were minimized.

Immediately after the flood, Mu Cang Chai district, communes and sectors quickly and responsibly coordinated with forces to overcome the consequences of natural disasters such as: the transport sector with efforts to clear National Highway 32, the natural resources and environment sector in 3 days completed many tasks for the construction of 2 resettlement areas; the industry and trade sector quickly fixed the electricity problem. Or the military and police sectors have made many efforts in relief work, supporting people to overcome the consequences and ensuring security and order...

However, the Provincial Party Secretary also emphasized that the damage caused by natural disasters is very severe, in the coming time, it is necessary for the coordination of all levels, sectors, and local authorities to make drastic efforts, ensure scientific and methodical cooperation to overcome the situation quickly, effectively, and with minimal resources. In overcoming the situation, it is necessary to choose priority goals that need to be implemented immediately, which are: ensuring accommodation, food, drinking water for people, health care or disease prevention...

Regarding the tasks that need to continue to be focused on, Provincial Party Secretary Do Duc Duy requested to quickly review the affected subjects, ensure social security for the affected subjects to ensure the right subjects and policies; review cases of collapsed and washed away houses, develop resettlement plans for each household and clearly define the completion time. Review households with severely damaged houses in need of repair and households at risk of being affected by natural disasters; continue to restore the infrastructure system of transportation, electricity, and clean water to serve the people's daily needs.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested Mu Cang Chai district and related sectors to focus on restoring works such as health stations, public administrative service units at the commune level, school facilities; restoring affected land and crop areas, and guiding people to change crop structure for land areas that cannot be restored. The receipt of allocation, support, and sponsorship from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists must ensure efficiency and harmony, without creating complications.

Sharing the difficulties of the locality, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Do Duc Duy basically agreed with the recommendations and proposals of Mu Cang Chai district; at the same time, assigned specific tasks to the sectors according to the functions and tasks of the sector to coordinate to overcome the consequences of natural disasters as soon as possible so that people in the flooded area of ​​Mu Cang Chai can soon stabilize their lives.
