The project is implemented by the Hospital for Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), under the direction of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Phan Minh Hoang - Director of the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital; Mr. K'Voi - medical specialist of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and a number of other units.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Phan Minh Hoang said that medical staff often face great pressure in the working environment because they have to try their best to take care of people's health and treat illnesses. If they do not know how to balance their emotions, it can lead to stress and depression.
Therefore, the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital has coordinated with the United States Agency for International Development to build a mental health care room for medical staff in Ho Chi Minh City.
"This is a meaningful activity to help medical staff have time and space to relax and restore their energy after stressful and tiring working hours," Dr. Minh Hoang assessed.
According to Mr. Hoang, mental health is the core resource for those working in the health sector to recover and be able to continue their work. "I hope that when I come here, the burden of anxiety and psychology will be lifted," he said.
The main colors of the mental health care room are white and blue. When coming here, medical staff can sit, relax, chat, color, read books, use a massage chair to relax, make tea or coffee to sip...
Mental health care helps medical staff control their emotions, thereby minimizing mental health problems. This place is expected to support entertainment and relaxation to restore physical and mental health after a tiring day of work.

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, Mr. Le Anh Ngoc (working in the training department of the line, Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital) said that he works in the administrative sector so he often has to deal with computer screens, books, and papers.
The large amount of work, requiring high concentration and precision makes employees like him quite stressed and easily exhausted.
Therefore, when he learned that the Mental Health Care Room was established at the hospital to provide medical staff with many relaxing activities, Mr. Ngoc could not help but be happy. "I work in an office and sit a lot, so I am prone to joint pain. The Mental Health Care Room has a massage chair that I can sit on to relax after work," he said.
In Ho Chi Minh City, in addition to the Rehabilitation and Occupational Disease Treatment Hospital, a Psychosomatic Care Department was also established at Thu Duc City Hospital.
Ms. Evonne Amaka Nkem Nwankwo-Igomu - USAID senior technical advisor - shared that investing in the physical and mental health of health workers not only benefits the medical team and hospital, but is also an important strategy in meeting demand, improving the quality of medical examination and treatment and customer service.
“The creation of the Wellness Room is a fundamental solution to meet the needs of healthcare workers to be able to relax, recharge, access support and information, and then return to work more effectively,” said Ms. Evonne.
