On the evening of May 27, patient NNH (12 years old, in Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai) was brought by his family to the Emergency Department, Quang Ngai Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital in a state of severe abdominal pain in the epigastric region, then spreading throughout the abdomen, accompanied by vomiting. The patient had no fever, no loose stools, and the abdominal pain gradually disappeared. Previously, the patient had been treated at a medical facility but did not improve.
Upon admitting the patient, the doctors performed clinical tests. When the results were available, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a perforated hollow organ. They then ordered emergency surgery to suture the hole.

During the surgery, the doctors found that the patient's abdomen had a lot of fluid and pseudomembrane, and there was a hole in the pyloric wall of the stomach with a diameter of 0.5 cm. After that, the doctors drained the fluid, washed the abdomen, and stitched the stomach hole.
Doctor Pham Xuan Duy, Head of Surgery Department, Quang Ngai Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, said that if the child is not diagnosed and operated on promptly, it will lead to severe peritonitis and sepsis, which is life-threatening.
"Parents need to pay proper attention to their children's health, regularly remind them to drink plenty of water, eat green vegetables, and supplement fiber," Dr. Duy recommends.
