On June 6, news from Can Tho Children's Hospital said that they had just successfully performed surgery to reattach a child's severed ear due to a traffic accident.
Previously, a girl named Đ.TNT (12 years old, living in Hau Giang province) was hospitalized in an emergency with her right ear severed, the wound was bleeding profusely, the edges were jagged, the ear cartilage was missing and exposed, and there was a lot of dirt and sand stuck to it, which could cause infection.
After examination, the doctor assessed and temporarily stopped the bleeding from the wound. The child was scheduled for ear reconstruction surgery to ensure the aesthetics and sound wave reception function of the ear.
The surgical team thoroughly washed away dirt stuck to the wound, cut away crushed cartilage and mangled tissue to reconstruct and restore the child's ear.
After surgery, the girl's ear rims were rosy, the edges healed after the stitches were removed, and the ear rim structure returned almost to its original state.
Dr. Vo Thi Thuy Linh, Head of Department 3CK, Can Tho Children's Hospital, said that ear reshaping is a complex and difficult surgery to perform, because the ear has a very special histological structure, a very thin layer of skin covering the cartilage frame, with a concave and convex shape in the middle.
