Tonight (September 24), Lam Dong Provincial Police arrested Mr. Pham Thanh Cong, Chief of Office of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DONRE) of this province to investigate the act of Fraudulent appropriation of property .
During the night, the police read the arrest warrant and searched Mr. Cong’s private home on Ly Nam De Street, Ward 8, Da Lat City. Many boxes of documents related to the case were seized by the police to serve the investigation.
According to information, a resident in Duc Trong district who wanted to change the land use purpose asked Mr. Cong for help. This person transferred 1 billion VND to Mr. Cong twice. However, the Chief of Office of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment did not carry out the change of land use purpose and did not refund the money.
In September, during a regular citizen reception by Lam Dong provincial leaders, this person denounced Mr. Cong's behavior. Afterwards, Lam Dong Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Thai Hoc asked the provincial police leaders to investigate the citizen's accusation.
The police are continuing to expand the investigation.
