Surrounded by rich nature, Japan has four distinct and wonderful seasons. Autumn is considered the most beautiful time of the year when the landscape everywhere changes to brilliant shades of yellow, red, and orange. The autumn foliage season in Japan, locally called koyo, has been admired by people for centuries, along with the cherry blossom season (sakura), attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists.

The best time to visit autumn with yellow and red leaves covering the sky in Japan is usually from late September to early December. Depending on the location, altitude of the localities and the temperature of each year, the expected schedule of each place will be different.
