According to VietNamNet reporters, at the Dong Viet bridge project (Bac Giang province), construction work has been progressing normally in recent days. At the construction site, workers are still working.

Regarding the arrest of the leader of Thuan An Group - the joint venture that won the bid for the above project, Mr. Le O Pich, Vice Chairman of Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, said that this caused a lot of confusion for the locality. In the future, the province will evaluate and review the project as a whole.

“Because the incident is still too new, we have not yet calculated what will happen. We will inform you later,” Mr. Pich told VietNamNet reporter.

Dong Viet Bridge worth nearly 1,500 billion VND connecting Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces is taking shape. This is a project won by the joint venture Thuan An Group.

According to Mr. Ngo Thanh Duy, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction Projects for Traffic and Agricultural Works in Bac Giang Province, the main people in charge of the Dong Viet Bridge project have been arrested to serve the investigation.

“The unit has not yet assigned a new person in charge, so we do not have specific information about the current status of the project, whether it is on schedule for completion or not. In the near future, the province will have a new role for personnel and a plan to ensure the project's progress,” said Mr. Duy.

He added that Thuan An Group and the consortium are still implementing the project, because "according to the contract, they still have to do it."

Mr. Hoang Van Thanh, Chairman of Yen Dung District People's Committee (Bac Giang Province), informed that the Dong Viet bridge project is located in the area, so the locality only participates in site clearance, and the progress is up to the investor, the locality does not know.

Dong Viet Bridge is expected to be completed at the end of August and put into operation at the end of September 2024. This is the first and largest cable-stayed bridge in Bac Giang province, crossing the Thuong River to connect with Hai Duong province.

According to approval, the project has a total length of 8.59km. Of which, the approach road to the bridge on both sides is about 7.86km long, and the Dong Viet bridge is about 731.2m long.

The project will be implemented over 3 years (2022-2025), from the provincial budget and local government bonds.

Recently, the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency (C03) has initiated a case of violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences; giving and receiving bribes occurring at Thuan An Group Joint Stock Company (Thuan An Group) and related units and organizations.

The investigation agency prosecuted, arrested and temporarily detained Nguyen Duy Hung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Thuan An Group, for violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences and bribery; at the same time prosecuted and temporarily detained Tran Anh Quang, General Director, for bribery.

In addition, the investigation agency also prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Khac Man, Deputy General Director of Thuan An Group; Nguyen Van Thao, Director and Dam Van Cuong, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Traffic and Agricultural Works of Bac Giang Province; and Hoang The Du, Head of the Management Board of Bac Giang Province.
