DP World Australia said operations at the affected ports had not yet been restored. A statement said the company was “working around the clock to safely restore normal operations” after the attack was discovered on Friday.
DP World Australia, part of the giant ports group DP World, operates four container terminals in Australia in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Fremantle in Western Australia.
Late on Saturday, Australia’s National Cyber Security Coordinator Darren Goldie, who was appointed this year to respond to a number of major data breaches, said the “disruption” was “likely to continue for a number of days and will impact the movement of goods into and out of Australia”.
“DP World Australia has announced that it is restricting access to port operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Fremantle while it investigates the incident,” Mr Goldie said on social media platform X.
