According to a VNA reporter in France, on June 15, at Monge Square in District 5, Paris, the Ici Vietnam Festival 2024 was organized by the Association of Vietnamese People in France (UGVF), attracting a large number of overseas Vietnamese and French friends to attend.
In a space of nearly 10,000 square meters , hundreds of stalls selling Vietnamese cuisine and books attract not only the attention of overseas Vietnamese in France but also French tourists who love Vietnamese cuisine and culture.
The stalls are arranged early and very scientifically, convenient for diners to choose. A cultural exchange is shown through the arrangement of the stalls, following the order of the French meal.
First are the stalls with appetizers such as banh xeo, banh tom com, nem... to the stalls selling main dishes such as bun thang, banh mi, pho bo... and ending with the stalls with desserts such as donuts, sugarcane juice, coconut juice, ice cream, fruit...
The long lines of diners patiently waiting their turn at all the Vietnamese food stalls are clear evidence of the appeal of Vietnamese dishes to the French people.
According to Mr. Vuong Huu Nhan, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in France, the festival attracted the attention of many compatriots, the French public and international friends. Following the success of previous seasons, this year's festival attracted nearly 6,000 visitors.
Besides the uniqueness of the food, convenient transportation is also a factor that causes the number of visitors to the festival to increase dramatically.
Located in a convenient location, right next to the exit of the Paris metro system, Monge Square is an ideal location for Ici Vietnam Festival 2024 to attract a large number of diners to attend. This can be considered a correct strategy of the organizers when choosing a location that makes it convenient for diners to come to the festival.
The dishes are carefully and meticulously prepared by professional chefs, combining tradition and modernity, French and Vietnamese cuisine, with the unique characteristics of street food. The dishes are simple and rustic but bring a delicious feeling and attract even the most demanding diners.
Ms. Sophia Arrii shared that she is a local resident and has known about this festival for many years. Every time she attends, Vietnamese cuisine attracts her because the dishes are not elaborate but very attractive.
While enjoying the food, diners also have the opportunity to relax in a space displaying and selling Vietnamese and French books. The book stalls are located right in the center of the square, next to the fountain, attracting many tourists to visit and learn.
Ms. Ariane Louvet shared that she loves Vietnamese culture because her husband is Vietnamese. She rarely has the opportunity to visit Vietnam, so when she comes to this festival, she can enjoy Vietnamese cuisine and find books about Vietnam for her children, so that they can better understand the culture of their father's homeland.
Ariane herself is also very interested in learning about Vietnamese culture and is also the author of the dictionary “Unusual Vietnamese Culture,” which writes about special things in the eyes of foreign tourists when coming to Vietnam. According to her, during the Ici Vietnam Festival 2024, Vietnamese people in Paris will have the opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese cuisine as well as explore Vietnamese culture.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang welcomed the idea of organizing Ici Vietnam Festival at a location familiar to the Vietnamese community and becoming a brand in the hearts of the overseas Vietnamese community.
The festival aims to introduce the unique features of Vietnamese cuisine, leaving a deep impression on visitors and is highly anticipated in the following years. Although the street food festival only lasts for one day, it has contributed to arousing a unique cultural feature of Vietnam, attracting not only the Vietnamese community but also French friends in the capital Paris.
