Specifically, from January 14 to February 12, 2025 (ie December 15 to January 15 of the lunar calendar), the total air transport market will reach approximately 7.3 million passengers, an increase of 11.7% over the same period in 2024.

Of which, international visitors reached 4 million (up 16.3%). Domestic visitors reached 3.3 million, up 6.6% and cargo output also increased 9.4% over the same period in 2024, reaching 96 thousand tons.

During this period, Vietnamese airlines transported more than 4.8 million passengers, up 5.6%, and transported 34 thousand tons of cargo, up 9.8% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international transport reached more than 1.5 million passengers and more than 15.4 thousand tons of cargo. Domestic transport reached more than 3.3 million passengers and 18.5 thousand tons of cargo.

Particularly in the period from December 25, 2024 to January 5, 2025 (the official Tet holiday period), the total passenger transport volume of the market will reach 2.5 million passengers (an increase of 17.8% compared to the same period of Lunar New Year 2024).

Of which, international passenger transport reached 1.35 million passengers and domestic passenger transport reached 1.14 million passengers.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, at key airports, passenger volume also increased significantly compared to the same period in 2024.

Specifically, Tan Son Nhat International Airport reached 26.4 thousand take-offs and landings, an increase of 7.9%. Passenger throughput reached 4 million and 44 thousand tons of cargo. On average, there were 824 to 970 take-offs and landings per day, with the number of passengers passing through the port reaching an average of about 138 thousand passengers per day.

On the peak day of January 24 (December 25), Tan Son Nhat airport operated 1,002 takeoffs and landings and had 152,000 passengers passing through the port.

Noi Bai International Airport had 16.5 thousand take-offs and landings, up 9.2%. Passenger throughput reached 2.7 million and cargo throughput reached 62.3 thousand tons. Each day, the port handles an average of 550 to 600 take-offs and landings.

On the peak day of January 24, the port operated 616 takeoffs and landings with 100,000 passengers passing through the port.

Passenger and cargo throughput through the port reached 1.1 million passengers and 2.5 thousand tons of cargo, respectively. Each day, the port handles an average of 230-255 take-offs and landings.

The peak day at Da Nang airport was January 26 (December 27) when it handled 259 takeoffs and landings and 40,000 passengers through the port.

According to the assessment of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, although the volume of passengers and cargo through the ports and the number of flights performed at times grew at double-digit rates at key airports such as Noi Bai, Da Nang and Tan Son Nhat, operations at the airports were still coordinated smoothly, especially at Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

There is no congestion at airports like in previous years. Absolute safety is ensured in the operation of the air transport chain.

Although there were still some flight delays in the early days of the peak season due to unfavorable weather conditions, service quality was still improved compared to previous years. Passenger rights were guaranteed and negative impacts on operations were reduced.

To achieve that result, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and related units have managed, directed closely, promptly and effectively implemented appropriate solutions. Thereby, improving the efficiency in management, inspection, supervision and handling of arising problems and difficulties affecting aviation operations.

Currently, the aviation industry continues to plan to serve the April 30-May 1 holiday, the 2025 Summer peak season and the September 2 National Day holiday with forecasts of increased demand for air transport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is developing a plan to implement and coordinate with agencies and units in the aviation industry to deploy appropriate solutions, proactively and prepare plans to best meet the travel needs of passengers, ensure security and safety, and continue to improve service quality on each flight.
