Four individuals were awarded by the Border Guard Command of Binh Thuan province for their outstanding achievements in rescuing foreigners in distress at sea. The award ceremony took place on the morning of February 6 at Mui Ne Border Guard Station.


Four individuals were awarded by the Border Guard Command of Binh Thuan province for their outstanding achievements in rescuing foreigners in distress at sea. The award ceremony took place on the morning of February 6 at Mui Ne Border Guard Station.

On the night of January 25, Mr. Alaksandra (45 years old, Russian nationality) was swept away by waves about 5 nautical miles from the coast of South Mui Ne Bay while kitesurfing. Upon receiving the news, Mui Ne Border Guard Station quickly deployed search and rescue forces.

Mr. Alaksandra was rescued while drifting at sea.

After nearly 2 hours of searching, the rescue team discovered and brought Mr. Alaksandra safely to shore.

The four individuals who were awarded include: Lieutenant Tong Ngoc Dat (Deputy Head of Mui Ne Border Guard Station), Corporal Nguyen Gia Hung (Maritime Officer), Mr. Phan A Khac Doan (Captain of fishing boat BTH 80060TS) and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phi (sea worker).

Awarding certificates of merit to individuals participating in the rescue

Colonel Dinh Van Bo, Deputy Political Commissar of Binh Thuan Provincial Border Guard, presented certificates of merit to four individuals and acknowledged and highly appreciated their bravery and fearlessness.

Mr. Alaksandra expressed his gratitude for the help of the Border Guard and the people.

He also emphasized that this action clearly demonstrates the sense of responsibility of the provincial Border Guard officers and soldiers in supporting and helping people in distress at sea.
