The announcement and award ceremony of the Future Innovation Award - VietFuture Award 2023 was recently held by the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) in Hue, within the framework of Digital Transformation Week - Hue 2023.
As an initiative of VINASA with the desire to promote cooperation between businesses and schools in innovative startups, this year is the first year VietFuture Award is held.
VietFuture is positioned as an annual award for innovative start-up projects in the field of science and technology by university and college students across the country and excellent projects ordered by businesses.
The program aims to promote cooperation between businesses and universities in general innovation and start-up activities; help businesses find new ideas for their ecosystem of products and solutions; and at the same time recruit talented groups.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of VINASA, Head of the award organizing committee emphasized: VietFuture Award 2023 not only brings useful experiences and valuable knowledge to students. Outstanding projects will initiate a closer connection between businesses and schools in searching for and supporting the application of useful innovations of students into practice and into the market.
“Large technology corporations will always support and devote resources to early innovation promotion activities like VietFuture,” Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa shared.
In its first year, after 3 months of launching, VietFuture Award 2023 received 74 nominations from 27 universities and colleges across the country.
The national presentation evaluation and final round took place with the participation of 32 nominees presenting in person in Hue on December 14 and 42 nominees participating in online presentations that took place earlier on December 9.
According to the jury, the ideas, products, and projects of the students participating in the contest are diverse, highly invested, and span 14 fields. Many of the products have good applications in solving problems related to the environment, agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, culture and arts, smart mobility, e-commerce, logistics, etc., aiming to build a quality living environment as well as contribute to building a digital society, serving people's lives better.
Among them, there are projects that have gone deep into supporting the economic, cultural and social development of the locality. Notably, the organizing committee has received a large number of registered projects in typical fields such as artificial intelligence and automation; green technology and energy saving; technology for society & community development; education, learning and training 4.0.
As a result, the VietFuture 2023 Jury has selected 20 excellent nominees to award the First, Second, Third and Potential prizes. These are projects that are evaluated as excellent in terms of ideas and have the potential to be effectively applied in the future.
Of which, 5 student projects were awarded First Prize including: 'Using rice husks and nylon to create environmentally friendly construction materials (paving bricks)' by Duy Tan University; 'Applying 3D Animation technology to increase students' access to history in the renovation period' by FPT Arena Multimedia; 'Designing and manufacturing fuel cells for electric vehicles' by Lac Hong University; 'Application of green circles - an application to encourage creative learning and trading of recycled products' by Hanoi University of Science and Technology; and 'Metasoothe - Mental health care solution with virtual assistant using artificial intelligence' by Vietnam - Korea University of Information Technology and Communications.
According to the Organizing Committee, the projects that won the VietFuture 2023 award will receive cash and in-kind prizes and technology platforms. The total value of the cash prize is VND 265 million; scholarships from CODEGYM are worth VND 620 million, and cloud server gifts and academic accounts for students and lecturers from Alibaba Cloud are worth USD 12 million.
The representative of the Organizing Committee also shared that the VietFuture 2024 award will be launched early, from January 2024, so that universities and organizing businesses can participate in placing orders and receiving consultants for projects from student groups of universities across the country.
