On May 17, news from Tra On District Police (Vinh Long) said that the unit is investigating to clarify and handle 2 people for the act of stealing more than 650 kg of oranges.
Previously, Thoi Hoa Commune Police (Tra On District) received a report from Mr. NHT (43 years old, residing in Vinh Huu Hamlet, Huu Thanh Commune, Tra On District) about a large number of oranges being stolen from his family's orange garden in Tuong Tin Hamlet, Thoi Hoa Commune.
Receiving the report and conducting investigation and verification, the Criminal Police Team of Tra On District Police identified Bui Tuan Thanh (24 years old, residing in Tuong Tho Hamlet, Thoi Hoa Commune, Tra On District) as the suspect and invited him to clarify.
At the police station, Thanh initially confessed that at around 5:00 p.m. on May 15, Thanh discussed with Vo Tuan Khoi (32 years old, living in the same locality as Thanh) to go into Mr. T's orange garden to steal oranges to sell.
After that, Thanh and Khoi stole a plastic boat from a nearby orange garden as a means of transportation and went picking oranges together until about 5:00 a.m. on May 16. Then they both went home to sleep and waited until dawn to return to the garden to transport the oranges for sale.
Through working and checking the quantity of oranges, the police determined that the number of oranges Thanh and Khoi stole was 654 kg.
The above mentioned orange theft case is being further investigated and handled by Tra On District Police according to the provisions of law.
