Transport infrastructure opens up new development space
At the opening ceremony of Tan An City Ring Road on December 23, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Long An province, said that Tan An City Ring Road contributes to reducing traffic pressure on National Highway 1 and the National Highway 1 bypass (section through Tan An City); reducing the traffic volume of motor vehicles going deep into the inner city of Tan An City; ensuring continuous connectivity between urban subdivisions, creating conditions for the formation of new model urban areas formed parallel to the road. The road is also an important traffic axis connecting Tan An City and Chau Thanh, Tan Tru, Thu Thua districts, creating an important corridor area for economic development, enhancing trade and service activities. At the same time, the route opens an important traffic bridge from Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - National Highway 62 - National Highway 1 and the traffic route along both sides of the Vam Co Tay River towards the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project (DA) after being put into operation will open up a new development space for Tan An City, contributing to helping the locality increase connectivity with Ho Chi Minh City, as well as connecting the provinces of the Southwest with the Southeast region and Ho Chi Minh City, soon bringing Tan An City to the standards of a type 1 urban area, friendly - civilized - modern and sustainable development.

Tan An City Ring Road has a total length of 22.35 km (including 5 bridges with a total length of nearly 1.2 km), passing through Thu Thua District (length of 2.8 km) and Tan An City. The starting point is the intersection with National Highway 62 at My Phu intersection (Thu Thua District), the end point is at the intersection with National Highway 1 in front of Long An Province's martyrs' cemetery. The route meets the standard of level 3 delta scale.
The project has a total investment of 3,102 billion VND. Of which, the construction investment cost is 1,661 billion VND, the rest is the cost of site clearance (GPMB). The total land area to be GPMB is 130 hectares. The reason why the GPMB area is large in Tan An City, the width to be cleared is up to 73 m so that after the road is built, the remaining frontage land area will be used as new development space according to the planning for the development of commercial and service subdivisions.
The completion of one of these three key projects 2 years ahead of the Resolution of the 11th Long An Provincial Party Congress is thanks to the consensus and support of nearly 1,900 organizations and households along both sides of the road and the efforts of the entire political system of Long An province in creatively, flexibly and effectively applying current legal regulations. Because, at the Tan An City Ring Road Project, more than 6 years ago, Long An province encountered many difficulties in planning, project establishment, appraisal, approval and construction organization, with many obstacles and confusion, learning from experience and having to make many adjustments. Mr. Vo Hong Thao, acting Chairman of Tan An City People's Committee, said that the city is focusing on implementing a plan to exploit land funds on both sides of Tan An City Ring Road into functional zones to develop trade and services according to smart and modern urban criteria. That will be a new development space, new resources with huge room.
Former President Truong Tan Sang and former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, together with leaders of the Long An Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee, cut the ribbon to open the Tan An City Ring Road to traffic.
Specifying the goals of the 11th Provincial Party Congress
According to Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan, Director of Long An Department of Transport, in parallel with the completion of Tan An City Ring Road Project, the transport sector is urgently implementing two other key projects (phase 2021 - 2025), namely Provincial Road 830E Project, from the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway to TL830; Provincial Road 827E Project (ie National Highway 50B).
Provincial Road 830E project has a budget of 3,707 billion VND. After 8 months of construction, in Ben Luc district, land acquisition and clearance have been paid for 732/878 cases with a total compensation of 1,296.3/1,616.32 billion VND, an area of 33.44/39.7 hectares. Meanwhile, in the section through Can Duoc district, 146/155 households have been counted with an area of 9.89/10.08 hectares. The construction packages are on schedule, the total construction volume is estimated at more than 10%.
Regarding the investment project to build National Highway 50B and 3 bridges on the route (crossing Can Giuoc River, Vam Co Dong River, Vam Co Tay River), in the immediate future, the province will focus resources from the budget to carry out site clearance work and invest in building access roads to the bridges on National Highway 50B to connect the bridges with provincial and national roads to effectively promote the investment in the project to build 3 bridges using ODA loans.
At the same time, 8 projects in the breakthrough program on traffic proposed by Long An province include the following projects: Luong Hoa - Binh Chanh road; Huu Thanh - Tan Buu road; provincial road 826E; road connecting the road leading to Rach Doi bridge to provincial road 826E; Duc Hoa dynamic axis; Tan Tap - Long Hau road; upgrading and expanding provincial road 824; Hung Vuong - National Highway 62 intersection. In addition, Long An is implementing according to plan and on schedule 2 key national traffic projects including the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and 4 projects assigned by the Central Government.

In the new spring of Giap Thin 2024, after more than 3 years of implementing the Resolution of the 11th Congress, although there are still difficulties, especially in site clearance work, with the support and attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, localities... traffic works in Long An are all new, bringing great values in terms of economy - society and attracting investment. That is the concretization of a goal that Long An province has strived to achieve over the past 10 years, which is to mobilize all resources to build a synchronous traffic infrastructure system to serve the development of industry and urban areas in the province's key economic region.
