According to the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2, there were 257 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 124 people and injuring 193 others.

Compared to the 4-day holiday of the same period in 2023, the number of accidents decreased by 28 cases (9.82%), decreased by 36 deaths (22.5%) and increased by 5 injuries (2.66%).

Of which, on National Highway 1, there were 20 accidents, killing 7 people and injuring 18. Compared to the same period, the number of accidents decreased by 8 cases (28.6%), by 8 deaths (53.3%), and by 3 injuries (14.8%).

Regarding handling violations, during the 4-day holiday, the police handled over 60,300 violations (an increase of 25,894 cases). Notably, there were 16,425 cases of alcohol concentration violations (an increase of 6,997 cases), 14,407 drivers violating speed (an increase of 8,129 cases), and 474 cases of overloading (an increase of 142 cases)...

The Road and Railway Traffic Patrol and Control Department (Traffic Police Department) has deployed instructions for the traffic police force to implement the application of VNECSGT technology in inter-line patrol and control, focusing on National Highway 1 and expressways during the holidays.

This agency also sent leaders and officers to inspect local police units, focusing on handling behaviors that are the main causes of accidents.

Through this application, the police arranged 734 shifts, controlling 48,679 vehicles on National Highway 1.

From there, 7,534 violations were detected and recorded (compared to 2023, the number of violations handled increased by 3,029 cases); of which 1,239 were alcohol concentration violations (an increase of 49%).

At the same time, local police also discovered two cases of law violations. One case involved illegal immigration in Lang Son and the other involved transporting cigarettes without invoices and documents in Quang Nam.

On the highways, the patrol teams checked 3,858 vehicles, recorded 474 violations, fined an estimated 2 billion VND, and revoked 297 driving licenses. The most common violations were speeding (209 cases), entering the emergency lane (30 cases)...

In addition, the surveillance camera system also detected 196 violations. Police stopped vehicles and recorded 14 cases and issued fines to 182 cases.

Also in the past 4 days, the traffic situation was basically guaranteed. There was congestion on the day before and the first day of the holiday due to people traveling to their hometowns and vice versa. The cause was determined to be the sudden increase in traffic volume, exceeding the capacity of the infrastructure.

On the highways, traffic police took turns and continuously patrolled by motorbike. At the same time, the units received information and feedback from 8 calls, including 4 calls from people asking for support due to incidents.

The authorities supported 231 vehicles with reflective stickers, placed warning signs in case of accidents, distributed 585 propaganda leaflets, and provided instructions on safe driving on the highway...
