That is the content of Official Dispatch No. 9663/VPCP - CN issued on December 30 to the Ministry of Transport, conveying the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on supplementing the planning of Mang Den and Van Phong airports.
Specifically, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Transport to prepare, adjust, supplement and submit to the Prime Minister according to the provisions of the law on planning for the two airports of Mang Den and Van Phong. When implementing, it is necessary to study and comprehensively evaluate economic and technical factors.
Previously, in November 2024, the Ministry of Transport submitted to the Government a proposal to study the possibility of forming Mang Den and Van Phong airports.
Accordingly, the proposed location of Mang Den airport is in Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province, about 60km from Kon Tum city and 4km from Mang Den town center. This area is located in a mountainous area with an area of about 350ha.
Mang Den Airport is preliminarily studied to have a 4C airport level (according to the classification of the International Civil Aviation Organization - ICAO), with an expected capacity of about 1 million passengers/year by 2030 and investment and exploitation orientation with higher capacity after 2030.
The preliminary total investment of Mang Den airport in the first phase is over 4,900 billion VND. Of which, the budget capital for site clearance is 327 billion VND, the rest is capital mobilized by investors under the public-private partnership (PPP) investment method.
Van Phong airport is expected to be located in Van Thang commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province; about 65km south of Nha Trang city, about 108km south of Cam Ranh international airport, and about 49km north of Tuy Hoa airport.
The planned area for Van Phong airport is over 497 hectares, located entirely on coastal water, with no residents, mangrove forests, or planned boat mooring areas...
The planned capacity of Van Phong airport is expected to be about 1.5 million passengers/year by 2030; vision to 2050 is about 2.5 million passengers/year. This is a level 4E airport.
Preliminary calculation of total investment of Van Phong airport under PPP method is more than 9,200 billion VND. Of which, budget capital is about 2,150 billion VND, investor capital is more than 7,000 billion VND.
