TPO - Tens of thousands of people and tourists came to watch the "rotating palanquin" procession on the day of receiving the Certificate of ranking the Tu Luong Xam relic cluster as a special national relic - the headquarters of King Ngo Quyen in 938 and the opening of the Tu Luong Xam festival in 2025 in Hai An district (Hai Phong city) on the evening of February 12.

People from wards in Hai An district (Hai Phong) organized a "rotating palanquin" procession in front of the statue of King Ngo Quyen and then attended in the Linh Tu courtyard.

On the evening of February 12 (January 15), Hai An district (Hai Phong) held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of special national relic ranking for the Tu Luong Xam relic cluster - the headquarters of King Ngo Quyen in 938 and opened the traditional Tu Luong Xam festival in 2025.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), representatives of central ministries and branches, city leaders and tens of thousands of local people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - emphasized that the Bach Dang River has a history of a thousand years, marking three great victories over invaders in the years 938, 981 and 1288.

Luong Xam, the land that was once chosen by Ngo Quyen to build his headquarters, build Vanh Kieu citadel, set up a stake field, and achieved victory over the Southern Han army on the historic Bach Dang River in 938. The relic has a special position in the system of relics worshiping King Ngo Quyen in Hai Phong city.

Leaders of Hai Phong City, Hai An District, and the Department of Culture and Sports jointly received the Certificate of National Special Monument ranking for the Tu Luong Xam Relic Complex - the headquarters of King Ngo Quyen in 938.

With many relics and antiques such as royal decrees, stone steles, worship objects, and architectural structures carved in the artistic style of the Le Trung Hung period in the 17th and 18th centuries and the Nguyen Dynasty in the 19th and 20th centuries, it is clear evidence of the history of existence and development of the relic over many centuries, becoming a unique cultural destination for the community.

Associated with the Tu Luong Xam relic, the Tu Luong Xam festival takes place from January 16-18 every year, expressing the gratitude of the city's people towards their ancestors and roots, remembering and expressing gratitude and respect for King Ngo Quyen.

In 2022, the traditional Tu Luong Xam festival was included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On January 17, the Prime Minister decided to rank the Tu Luong Xam relic complex - the headquarters of King Ngo Quyen in 938 - as a special national relic.

Tens of thousands of people and tourists come to see the Tu Luong Xam festival.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested Hai An district (Hai Phong city) to pay attention to and develop a master plan for relic conservation, continue to research, collect, and conduct archaeological excavations to clarify the historical value of the relic.

At the same time, widely promote the values ​​of the relic, linking economic development and tourism. Thereby, contributing to fostering national pride, educating patriotic traditions, becoming an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists.

Previously, in the evening of the same day, the traditional procession, an important ritual, a unique feature imbued with the national cultural heritage of the Tu Luong Xam Traditional Festival.

The procession gathered 7 processions from 6 wards, where there are temples, communal houses, and shrines to King Ngo Quyen, with the participation of about 1,000 young men and women and village elders carrying sacrificial objects, sacred flags, gongs, drums, halberds, musical instruments, dragon pavilions, palanquins, drums, etc.

The procession "turned palanquin" in front of the statue of King Ngo Quyen and then in front of Linh Tu yard.

The highlight of Tu Luong Xam Festival is the palanquin procession of wards in Hai An district to "Tu Ca".

The procession carries the palanquin to the statue of King Ngo Quyen, performs the worship ritual, turns the palanquin around , then the whole procession shouts loudly and runs as fast as they can to the temple.

Also at the ceremony, tens of thousands of people and tourists enjoyed an epic art program with the theme of Bach Dang's heroic spirit - Tu Luong Xam's sacred mark with many songs and elaborately staged scenes to pay tribute to the great contributions of King Ngo Quyen.
