(Dan Tri) - Having passed many rigorous tests, the Tesla Cybertruck electric pickup truck has achieved a 5-star safety rating from NHTSA in the US.
After the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Cybertruck achieved a 5-star safety rating, Tesla released a rather impressive behind-the-scenes video.
The video shows how Tesla has worked to make its electric pickup truck safe for its occupants, from its unibody construction to rollover protection.

NHTSA's tests were conducted last December on the $99,999 Cyberbeast, the top-of-the-line Cybertruck version.
The only categories in which this electric pickup truck only scored four stars were rollover protection and front passenger protection in a simulated head-on collision with a vehicle of similar size and weight at 56 km/h.

The frontal crash test showed that the windshield provided 100% protection. In particular, during the crash test, both doors were closed and both could still be opened normally after the crash. This is quite important, because after a frontal crash, many cars cannot open the two front doors due to the deformed frame, making it difficult for people inside the car to get out, making rescue work difficult.
Although the driver and front passenger knee airbags did not deploy, Tesla said that was due to the design, which was specifically designed for this test. However, the front airbags did deploy to protect the driver and front passenger dummies.

Tesla is likely pleased with the safety results, but it’s worth noting that the Cybertruck isn’t the only electric pickup truck to earn a five-star safety rating from NHTSA; the Ford F-150 Lightning also received the same rating. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Silverado EV, GMC Sierra EV, GMC Hummer EV, and Rivian R1T have not been tested or rated.
