With a system of more than 400 caves that have been explored and measured to date, Phong Nha - Ke Bang (Quang Binh) is a famous destination, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
On April 13, after 3 weeks of exploration in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang area, Tuyen Hoa and Minh Hoa districts, a group of members of the British Cave Research Association (BCRA) in Vietnam announced the discovery of 22 new caves with a total length of 11.7 km. Leading the group was Mr. Howard Limbert - one of the first members of BCRA to participate in the Son Doong Cave exploration trip in 2009. To date, he and his colleagues have explored about 700 caves across Vietnam, with more than 350 of them located in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

The nickname "kingdom of caves" has been associated with Phong Nha - Ke Bang area in particular and Quang Binh province in general for many years. This metaphor has been used by famous newspapers and travel websites in the world such as

With an area of over 123,326 hectares, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park possesses a topography that was formed over 400 million years, containing a cave system with many undiscovered mysteries. This place was recognized by UNESCO twice as a "World Natural Heritage" in 2003 and 2015, with criteria on geology, biodiversity and development of terrestrial ecosystems. Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is also the first heritage in Southeast Asia to meet 3/4 criteria for a "World Natural Heritage".

Among the caves discovered to date, Son Doong is the most prominent name and can be considered a "marker" of Quang Binh on the world tourism map.
