(CLO) Jordan's King Abdullah II said he stressed his opposition to "the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank" during a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that if Hamas does not return the hostages by noon on February 13, Israel will resume large-scale attacks in Gaza.

"I reiterated Jordan's firm stance against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank," King Abdullah II said on social media after the meeting. "This is the unified position of Arab countries."

He stressed that the top priority is to rebuild Gaza without displacing Palestinians and addressing the dire humanitarian situation there.

King Abdullah II said he had a “constructive” meeting with President Trump, in which the two discussed the long-term partnership between Jordan and the United States. He affirmed that a just peace based on a two-state solution is the way to ensure regional stability.

"This requires American leadership. President Trump is a man of peace. He played an important role in achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. We expect the United States and all parties involved to ensure that the ceasefire is maintained," King Abdullah II said.

During the meeting, Mr. Trump announced that he would “take over” Gaza under American control and turn it into a luxury tourist destination. He affirmed that he would carry out this controversial plan despite opposition from many sides.

"We will take Gaza, preserve it, develop it. Ultimately, it will become a destination that creates jobs for the people of the Middle East," Mr. Trump said.

The United Nations estimates that at least $53 billion will be needed to rebuild Gaza, with $20 billion needed in the first three years. The humanitarian situation there remains dire, with more than 60% of homes destroyed after more than a year of conflict.
