However, there are no more water bottles with leeches, so it will be difficult to clarify the cause.
“The incident happened on April 28, but it took 9 days for the unit to receive information and conduct an inspection. When it was discovered, the school should have made a record, coordinated with the commune and the authorities to seal and confiscate the water bottles, but the school let Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company take the water bottles back. Now they have already destroyed them, so it is very difficult to determine,” said Mr. Tien.
Whether this company's water is of guaranteed quality or not remains to be seen because there are no test results yet.
Also related to the incident, after receiving a report from Phong Thuy Kindergarten, where a water bottle with leeches was discovered, Phong Thuy Commune People's Committee reported the incident to Le Thuy District People's Committee.
Like VietNamNet reported that on April 28, teachers at Phong Thuy Kindergarten, Le Thuy district, when giving one of the newly purchased water bottles to students, discovered a leech in the 20-liter water bottle with the label still intact.
When shaking the water bottle, the leech the size of a chopstick began to wiggle and move. The school invited the commune to come and investigate and give a specific report.
According to Ms. Duong Thi Thuy Ha - Principal of the school, before that, the school often bought 20-liter water bottles from Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company (located in Kien Giang Town, Le Thuy District) for students to drink.
The most recent purchase was on April 25-28, when one of the newly purchased water bottles was brought home for use, the above incident occurred. After that, the school immediately stopped using bottled water from this company.
Currently, the teachers are boiling water for the students to drink to ensure safety. The school also contacted the water supply company, made an initial report of the incident to conduct an inspection. The water bottle with leeches inside was later recalled by the company.
Bang Mineral Water Joint Stock Company is a producer of mineral water and bottled soft drinks that are popular with consumers in Quang Binh and some neighboring provinces.
Currently, many schools in Le Thuy district are using bottled water from this company.
