Vietnam hosts Asia-Pacific's largest securities conference
The IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Sub-Committee Meeting 2025 in Vietnam will take place from February 19 to 21, 2025.
From February 19 to 21, 2025, in Quang Nam, with the approval of the Ministry of Finance and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), the State Securities Commission (SSC) will host the 2025 IOSCO Asia-Pacific Regional Subcommittee Meeting (APRC Meeting) in Vietnam.
This is an event in the annual series of specialized activities of IOSCO. The APRC Conference in 2025 will be attended by the IOSCO Secretary General, senior leaders of financial market and securities market regulators of APRC member countries.
The conference agenda includes meetings between regulators on supervision and enforcement in the securities market and the APRC Subcommittee plenary meeting. APRC will also organize a Dialogue Forum between securities market regulators in Europe and Asia-Pacific. This is an opportunity for financial and securities market regulators of countries to share and learn from each other's experiences in managing and supervising financial and securities markets, and to exchange and discuss new challenges, as well as facilitate international connection and cooperation between regulators to promote the world's financial and securities markets to operate transparently, safely, stably and effectively.
In the series of events, Comrade Nguyen Van Thang, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Finance will attend and chair the Symposium and orientation for stock market development in the integration trend. The conference will create space for APRC - IOSCO members and members of the Vietnamese stock market to discuss topics related to capital market development, green financial market, digital transformation and new products in the world financial market, efforts of IOSCO and APRC members in enhancing the resilience of the stock market.
Since becoming an official member of IOSCO, this is the second time Vietnam has hosted the APRC Conference. Therefore, this is an opportunity for the SSC in particular and Vietnam in general to continue to affirm its role and responsibility in the region and globally, actively promoting international cooperation to contribute to the common development of the international financial and securities markets. The event is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the image of the country, people and the Vietnamese securities market, attracting the attention and investment of the international community.
It is known that the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) was established in 1983. Currently, IOSCO has 200 members from 130 countries and territories, representing 95% of the financial and securities market regulators in the world. IOSCO plays a role in connecting securities commissions globally and is an important forum for international cooperation between capital market and securities market regulators.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Committee (APRC) is one of four regional committees established by IOSCO to address issues related to securities regulation and supervision, and to promote cooperation and development in the financial sector in the Asia-Pacific region. The APRC currently has 24 full members and 09 associate members.
After an active process of applying for membership in IOSCO and receiving the approval of the Prime Minister, the SSC joined IOSCO in 2001. Within the framework of multilateral cooperation between IOSCO and APRC, the SSC always performs its responsibilities, obligations and rights as an official member. The SSC's participation in IOSCO and APRC has brought many practical benefits, contributing to the comprehensive development of the Vietnamese stock market. The SSC has the opportunity to quickly access and update international principles, standards and recommendations on capital market management and supervision to apply in practice, developing the domestic stock market.
