On the morning of June 23, in Hanoi, the Military Traditional Medicine Institute (Ministry of National Defense) organized a scientific workshop and specialized work on traditional medicine to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the institute's traditional day (July 4, 1978 / July 4, 2023).
The workshop was attended by more than 200 delegates and scientists from 95 agencies and organizations inside and outside the Army.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Major General, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Xuan Phong, Party Committee Secretary, Director of the Military Traditional Medicine Institute, said that the scientific and line work workshop aimed to exchange academic knowledge, share practical experiences, inspire and orient development in treatment and scientific research in the field of traditional medicine in the coming time. At the same time, to recognize, evaluate and orient the line work in the field of traditional medicine inside and outside the Army. Through the workshop, it opened up a direction for effective cooperation and practical benefits to further improve the health care of soldiers and people. This is also a practical activity to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the institute's founding.

During the morning session, delegates attending the scientific conference listened to more than a dozen highly practical reports on traditional medicine work such as: Research on the effects of Saman joint pills on experimental knee osteoarthritis models; Comparison of the effectiveness of catgut implantation and electroacupuncture in the treatment of lumbar syndrome at Military Hospital 354 (General Department of Logistics) from June 2021 to September 2021; The effect of the method of gluing Vuong Bat Luu Hanh seeds on the Nada acupoint formula in the treatment of non-organic insomnia; Research on the effect of Bilasen in regulating sleep disorders on volunteers; Evaluation of the effect of pain relief and improvement of knee joint range of motion using TK1 medicine combined with electroacupuncture...

Notably, the report of Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Dinh Thanh Ha, Head of the Military Science Department, Military Traditional Medicine Institute, informed many important contents, focusing on affirming: Military Traditional Medicine Institute is the leading scientific institution, the last line of the traditional medicine system in the entire army, developed according to the combined model of 4 organizations to perform 4 main functions including: Research Institute; school; hospital; science and technology enterprise.

From 2018 to present, the institute's scientific research activities have created important breakthroughs, helping to improve the effectiveness of treatment, human resource training, drug production, focusing on military medicine topics. In 5 years, the Military Traditional Medicine Institute has carried out a total of 80 scientific research topics at all levels, including 7 national and sub-national level topics, 23 ministerial level topics. In particular, for the first time, the institute has implemented a science and technology program at the Ministry of National Defense level with a cluster of topics divided into 4 areas, including: Traditional medicine management; medicinal herbs development; treatment; manufacturing production lines under the leadership of 5 military units, deployed in all 3 regions and with the participation of many leading scientific establishments inside and outside the military.

With the function of a grade I hospital, Central level, directly under the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Traditional Medicine Institute has regularly paid attention to the direction of the line, especially in the following aspects: Training for the lines; scientific research; directing, guiding, supporting expertise; receiving and treating patients of the lines; developing and building specialized technical expertise. In particular, the institute has closely coordinated with the Treatment Department (Military Medical Department, General Department of Logistics) to organize delegations of cadres to units and departments of Oriental Medicine of hospitals to support the development of traditional medicine, scientific research, training, helping units deploy a number of new techniques applied at the grassroots level, improving the quality of on-site medical examination and treatment.
