After a series of disappointing defeats, Vietnamese football fans expressed their anger through social media. Posts on the Vietnam Football Federation’s Facebook page received a large number of negative comments, calling for Phillipe Troussier to resign.

Since the loss to Indonesia in the first leg of the 2026 World Cup second qualifying round in Asia, users have been unable to comment on the VFF fanpage. Except for the two live broadcasts of the match, all content appearing on the page shows the status "Vietnam Football Federation - VFF has limited who can comment on this article".

Unable to express their opinions, Vietnamese fans left angry comments on their posts. In many posts, the anger rate was overwhelming with thousands of likes.

During the live broadcast of the Vietnam-Indonesia match at My Dinh Stadium on the evening of March 26, the content received about 6,600 reactions and over 10,000 comments. Most of the content shared by users was about disappointment with the team's performance. In addition, Mr. Phillipe Troussier became the target of attacks, blaming them for the recent consecutive failures.

It is not uncommon for football teams' fanpages to block or restrict users when they lose a match. In June 2022, the official Facebook page of the Thai team blocked users from Vietnam after their defeat at the U23 Asian Cup.

After the match with Vietnam, Indonesian fans shared their joy on Southeast Asian football community pages. Some people re-shared Van Hau's assessment of the country's naturalized players to mock him.

Currently, the defender of Hanoi Police is injured and cannot contribute to the national team in the 2023 Asian Cup campaign as well as the matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia.

However, Indonesian fans did not "let go" of the defender born in 1999. In Doan Van Hau's Instagram post announcing the good news of his upcoming first child, hundreds of comments appeared attacking and insulting him in Indonesian.

Currently, the player wearing the number 5 jersey of Hanoi Police also has to turn on the app's comment limit feature to block extremist users.
