" If we had taken advantage of the opportunity, we would have ended the match early. Today, the Vietnamese team played on an artificial pitch so they encountered many difficulties. I think fans shouldn't be too harsh, the result is okay, " commented Anh Nguyen on a Vietnamese football forum.

The Vietnamese team got off to a good start in terms of results when they defeated the Philippines in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. Nguyen Van Toan opened the scoring in the first half, while Nguyen Dinh Bac sealed the 2-0 victory in the second half.

The Vietnamese team basically controlled the match well thanks to the superior quality of the players. However, the team still let the opponent create a few dangerous situations.

" If you criticize too much, then go play in another tournament. If the players finished a little better, the result would be better, and our team is also missing many people ," commented Trang Trang.

" No need to be too good, winning is enough ," fan Huynh Ngoc Anh shared.

In this match, Coach Troussier made 4 substitutions. 3 out of 4 players on the field were young stars, including Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Van Tung and Ho Van Cuong. Their performance received much praise from the fans.

Besides the positive points, a part of the fans are not satisfied with some factors in the Vietnamese team's lineup.

" The defense made mistakes today, especially Thanh Binh's loss of the ball. I also think we should push Phan Tuan Tai up to take advantage of the attacking ability ," Trung Duc commented.

" Van Quyet entered the field without leaving any mark. Hopefully he will integrate faster into the team's playing style ," shared Thanh Kim.

After the match with the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will return to prepare to host Iraq at My Dinh Stadium. This match will take place at 7pm on November 21.
