RBC-Ukraine news agency quoted a source on February 14 saying that Ukraine has completed a draft agreement on rare earth metals and transferred it to the US.

The US has been the biggest aid donor to Ukraine since the conflict erupted nearly three years ago, with financial and military assistance totaling about $175 billion.
However, since returning to the White House, President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the aid the US has provided to Ukraine must be "reciprocal".
Mr. Trump said that the US will provide aid to Ukraine, on condition that Kiev pays the equivalent of 500 billion USD worth of rare earths to Washington.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly mentioned Ukraine's rare earth resources. In an interview with Fox News on February 10, Donald Trump said, "I told them (Ukraine) that I wanted to get the equivalent of, say, $500 billion in rare earths. They basically agreed, so at least we don't feel like fools. I stressed to them that we have to get something in return."
Earlier, on February 4, Ukrainian President Zelensky also called on American companies to invest in Ukrainian rare earths, calling them an "important economic spearhead". On February 7, Mr. Zelensky emphasized that the country will not "give away" its resources but propose a mutually beneficial partnership to exploit them together.
Rare earths are important minerals in the production of high-tech equipment such as phones, semiconductor chips, electric car batteries... The US has a rare earth mine with small reserves, although some companies are trying to develop projects in this country.
