Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and assistant coach demonstrate movements for young players
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan has listed 27 U23 Vietnam players to prepare for the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship taking place in Thailand in August 2023. Due to the schedule of domestic tournaments, the first training session of the U23 Vietnam team only had 17 players on the list, including a new addition, midfielder La Nguyen Bao Trung from the Hanoi Police Club.
Although he does not have a full squad, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan still implements a thorough and methodical training plan. He assigns specific tasks to his coaching staff in charge of each group of players, actively monitors and guides his students to properly implement technical and tactical requirements.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan shared: "There are also obstacles when players do not arrive at the training center on time, but we have anticipated that. Actually, the group of players who arrived late are still in the process of competing, so there is no problem. We also have a specific plan to help the players get used to and integrate with the team's playing style."
When asked about the team's strength in preparation for the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan added: "The U23 Vietnam team participating in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is the core of U20 players, so the quality cannot be compared with the U23 team. The main thing is that the players have experience in tournaments and matches of real quality."

The Khanh Hoa coach affirmed: "We must recognize that succession is extremely important. The national team's success in recent years is also thanks to good successors. Therefore, the Vietnam U23 team participating in this Southeast Asian U23 Tournament is to train and select elite successors, serving the goal of building a squad to participate in the Asian Qualifiers."
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan also said that his and the coaching staff's mission is to perfect everything in terms of expertise and skills for young players. In addition, practice matches and friendly matches are also opportunities for young players to accumulate experience when reaching a higher level, helping students have a relatively sufficient luggage to wear the national team's shirt.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team will maintain regular training with 2 sessions per day at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.
On August 14, the team will leave for Thailand to complete the final preparations before officially entering the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. During the training period in Thailand, the team will play a friendly match with the Bahrain U23 team on August 15.
