On May 6, the Vietnamese Embassy in coordination with Vietnamese associations and delegations in Hungary organized a flower offering ceremony to commemorate the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023) at his monument in Zalaegerszeg city. |
We feel even more proud when the image of the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people has been and is appearing on all continents, and is being shown special admiration and respect by the governments and people of many countries around the world.
For example, in Zalaegerszeg, a city of more than 700 years old in Hungary, there is still a statue of President Ho Chi Minh made by the famous sculptor Marton László (1925-2008) in 1976. The statue of Uncle Ho also won an award from the Hungarian Ministry of Culture in 1977 and has become a part of the culture of Zalaegerszeg for nearly half a century.
Aware of this pride, over the past time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with local ministries, departments and branches and with the support of friends around the world to carry out many activities honoring President Ho Chi Minh abroad.
In addition to the regular activities to commemorate and honor him, up to now, there have been 36 monuments of President Ho Chi Minh built and restored in 22 countries from Asia, Europe to America, Africa, along with 11 memorial areas named after President Ho Chi Minh in China, Laos, Thailand, France, Russia and Germany.
In addition, the practice of placing steles and attaching bronze plaques of President Ho Chi Minh is also carried out in Singapore, England, Slovakia, India, France and in some countries, combining the placement of steles in constructions such as parks and boulevards.
The erection of statues and works about President Ho Chi Minh abroad is of great significance, aiming to honor the leader - "Hero of Vietnamese National Liberation, Outstanding Cultural Man" recognized by the UNESCO General Assembly in 1987.
These projects have been and are symbols of friendship between Vietnam and other countries, contributing to promoting good relations between Vietnam and the host country, and strengthening the bond between the Vietnamese people and international friends.
When inaugurating the 60cm high bronze statue of President Ho Chi Minh made by Mexican sculptor Saúl Hernández in Guadalajara city (Mexico) in 2018, the city's Mayor emphasized that this was a great honor for the people and the government.
In particular, the construction of a project honoring Uncle Ho contributes to arousing pride in the country among the Vietnamese community abroad, while raising awareness of implementing Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of President Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle.
Not only creating more Vietnamese cultural space in other countries, these works after construction also become cultural and artistic works, helping local people, especially young people, learn more about the life, background, career and ideology of Ho Chi Minh, thereby further promoting the image of the country, culture and people of Vietnam.
