With specific and practical activities, Navy youth have spread the spirit and awareness of environmental protection, for a "green, clean, beautiful" community.
On March 9, in the provinces of Binh Thuan, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City, agencies and units under Naval Region 2 simultaneously organized Volunteer Saturday in response to Youth Month 2024.
This is a meaningful activity to promote the pioneering and volunteering role of cadres and youth union members in response to Youth Month 2024 and towards the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Naval Region 2 (March 19, 2009 - March 9, 2024), the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024).
Cadres and youth union members of grassroots unions in the entire region collected over 400m3 of garbage, cleaned up the environment, wharves, internal roads, and roads leading to barracks; trimmed and cared for trees; consolidated youth works, unit cultural grounds, and built a regular, "bright-green-clean-beautiful" unit.
Colonel Hoang Minh Dung, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Naval Region 2, said: Party committees and commanders at all levels in the entire Region have always closely followed and directed the activities of Youth Month 2024 to suit each unit and each specific task. Youth Union organizations in the entire Region have launched emulation and implemented many practical activities to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024), and the 15th anniversary of the founding of Naval Region 2 (March 19, 2009 - March 19, 2024). Youth Month activities have achieved results in many aspects, contributing practically to the implementation of the key tasks of each agency, unit and the entire Region.
Also on March 9, officers and soldiers of agencies and units of Naval Region 5 from the mainland to remote islands simultaneously organized "Volunteer Saturday" with the theme "Youth of Naval Region 5 join hands to protect the environment" in response to "Youth Month" in 2024. The program had the participation of hundreds of officers and soldiers of agencies and units in the Region.
Officers and soldiers of Naval Region 5, together with union members, youth, cadres, civil servants, organizations, businesses, armed forces, students and local people, have cleaned up the environment, cleared bushes, trimmed trees that obscured visibility, cleaned the coast and roads, removed and erased advertisements, classified ads and leaflets that violated regulations and spoiled the urban beauty on the roads; collected and classified waste and brought it to the treatment site.
The forces also coordinated to organize propaganda and mobilize people to do a good job of forest fire prevention and fighting and civilized urban lifestyle, not to encroach on roads and sidewalks, discharge wastewater and waste in violation of regulations, and limit the use of plastic bags and disposable plastic products to protect the environment and public health.
Lieutenant Colonel Tang Ngoc Thach, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Naval Region 5, said: Volunteer Saturday is an activity regularly organized by the unit to propagate and educate officers, soldiers and people of all walks of life to raise awareness and responsibility for maintaining hygiene and protecting the environment; promoting the spirit of volunteering for the community, joining hands to build new rural areas.
