16th Red Sunday 2024:
TPO - On March 17, about 700 youth union members and people of Hai Duong province came to Tu Ky District Cultural House to participate in the 16th Red Sunday in 2024 held in this locality to share blood of love.
On the morning of March 17, at the Tu Ky District Cultural House (Hai Duong), Ms. Duong Thi Huong Giang - Deputy Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union launched the Youth Union members and people to participate in the 16th Red Sunday in 2024. According to Ms. Giang, the blood donation festival is organized to contribute to raising awareness among cadres, armed forces, youth union members and local people about the meaning and importance of the voluntary blood donation movement. Especially, before and after the Lunar New Year to share drops of blood for patients in need of treatment at medical facilities. At the same time, promoting the spirit of volunteerism and responsibility for the community of youth union members. |
From early morning, hundreds of youth union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of Hai Duong province lined up to register for blood donation at the Tu Ky District Cultural House. |
The festival not only attracts young people and youth union members but also attracts many retired officials, laborers, workers... to participate in voluntary blood donation. |
Mr. Pham Van Tuan (58 years old, retired cadre) shared that this was the 6th time he participated in voluntary blood donation. On this occasion, he was promoted by young people after Tet, so he mobilized relatives and neighbors to donate blood voluntarily. Mr. Tuan shared that the blood donation festival not only helps him to check his health regularly but also contributes to sharing blood drops of love for poor patients and people in distress. |
At the Tu Ky District Cultural House hall, dozens of medical staff from the Provincial General Hospital guided people and union members to register and have their health checked before donating blood. |
Volunteers are thoroughly checked by medical staff for their health status, this information is kept and communicated directly to the volunteer. |
Speaking at the festival, journalist Le Xuan Son - Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper shared that, stemming from the shortage of blood to treat patients at major hospitals, Tien Phong Newspaper coordinated with the National Traffic Safety Committee and the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to organize the first Red Sunday in 2009 to call on and mobilize people and youth union members to donate blood to save lives. |
After 16 years of organization, Red Sunday has truly become a voluntary blood donation festival and spread to most provinces and cities across the country, attracting hundreds of thousands of participants every year. Thereby, contributing to solving the shortage of blood for patients undergoing treatment. |
