This afternoon (April 4), at Saigon International University, the US Diplomatic Mission in Vietnam and more than 40 leaders of 21 universities from 17 US states met and discussed with Vietnamese universities to seek cooperation opportunities for both sides.
The event is part of the International Academic Partnership Program (IAPP) implemented by the US Mission in Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Institute of International Education (IIE).
Program development, attracting international students
Sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporter, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thanh Duong, Head of the Faculty of Engineering at Vietnam-Germany University, said that participating in today's meeting with American universities, the school has 2 goals to aim for in the near future.
Recently, American students tend to study in many Asian countries, so in the future, Vietnamese universities will have many opportunities to welcome students from this country to study.

"We want to attract students from the US to study at Vietnam-Germany University because the school's strength is its European-standard training program. In previous years, young Americans did not have a tradition of studying abroad, but recently they have tended to leave the US to study in many other countries, including Asian countries, so this is also an opportunity for Vietnam," Associate Professor, Dr. Duong shared.
In the second goal, according to Dr. Duong, Vietnam-Germany University wishes to cooperate in training in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence and has found common ground with a number of schools, including Oregon State University.
Meanwhile, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education said that in the past, the school has cooperated with a number of schools in the US to train. This time, participating in the program is to continue to promote cooperation with the US in developing new training programs for the fields of microchip design, financial technology, semiconductors, sustainable environmental development...; exchange students and lecturers; find research funding sources, scholarships for students of the school to study for master's and doctoral degrees...
Master Cao Quan Tu, Director of Admissions at Saigon International University, said that through this activity, the school will continue to move towards extensive cooperation in training, research, and student exchange with many major universities in the US, to expand opportunities for students to choose from a variety of training programs and access advanced knowledge right at Saigon International University.
"Not only that, this also opens up new promising opportunities for students to step out into the world and conquer the labor market in a new context," said Master Tu.
Associate Professor, Dr. Le Khac Cuong, Vice President of Hong Bang International University, informed about the directions that the school wants to cooperate in, including developing joint training programs, scientific research in high-tech fields, academic and student exchanges, and accompanying businesses in training international human resources.
Contribute to improving training quality
At the event, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, commented: One of the major challenges facing Vietnamese higher education today is the issue of quality. "This seminar not only opens up opportunities to promote international factors in universities in Vietnam, but also contributes to improving training quality, management efficiency and operational capacity, while promoting the process of global integration," Mr. Dung shared.
Schools communicate directly with each other to find common cooperation goals.

According to Mr. Dung, the Ministry of Education and Training is always ready to listen to difficulties and problems from higher education institutions in order to coordinate with relevant agencies to find appropriate and effective solutions.
Speaking with Thanh Nien, Ms. Natella Svistunova, Cultural Attaché of the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, confirmed that the US education delegation to Vietnam this time is the largest ever.
Ms. Natella Svistunova said: "During this trip, American universities also hope to seek cooperation opportunities in many fields, especially semiconductors, science, engineering... Including cooperation in building training programs, student exchanges, research... The US also wants to support Vietnam in developing human resources in the fields of semiconductors and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics)".
21 American universities participate in the program, including: Colorado State University; Duke University; North Carolina A&T State University; Ohio University; Oklahoma State University; Orange Coast College; Oregon State University; Rutgers University; Stanford University; The University of Tulsa; Towson University; University of Alabama; University of Cincinnati; University of Connecticut; University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; University of Kentucky; University of Massachusetts Amherst; University of Nebraska–Lincoln; University of Vermont; University of Wyoming; Washington University in St. Louis.
15 Vietnamese universities in the region from Da Nang and below, including: Da Nang University; Nha Trang University; Polytechnic University, Natural Sciences University, International University, Information Technology University and An Giang University under Ho Chi Minh City National University; Saigon International University; Dong A University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Hong Bang International University, Lac Hong University, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Vietnam-Germany University, Can Tho University.
