Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema extends the application period for college-level Cai Luong Actors

According to Director - Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema, after 4 years of interruption due to not being allowed to enroll students at intermediate and college levels according to regulations, this 2023-2024 school year, the School has been allowed to enroll students at college level in the field of Stage Actors (Reformed Actors), with a training period of 3 years.

Candidates admitted to the Drama Theatre Acting program will receive a 70% tuition reduction along with a 40% career support program for the entire course. This is a priority policy to support, encourage and motivate students to study traditional national arts.

Accordingly, the Drama Actor major recruits students aged 18-27. The deadline for receiving application documents is August 31; the talent test will be on September 7 and 8, 2023 (without preliminary selection). Exam location: Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema (125 Cong Quynh, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City).

Accordingly, in the 2023-2024 school year, the school will enroll 30 students. The enrollment targets are candidates nationwide who have graduated from high school in the form of formal education or continuing education, professional secondary school, vocational secondary school, and vocational secondary school.

Candidates will take an aptitude test and be selected for the Literature subject (grade 12 transcript score must be 5 points or higher). For the aptitude test, candidates will take 2 tests: Voice - body and acting. For the voice - body test, candidates will be tested on musical sense, rhythm, sing 1 traditional song of their choice and 2 happy and sad melodies; and dance movements according to the judges' requirements. For the acting test, candidates will perform a stage work according to the exam, without a second person (no more than 10 minutes); candidates will demonstrate situations according to the judges' requirements and answer questions related to the art of Cai Luong.

Meritorious Artist Le Nguyen Dat also said that the School is currently rushing to complete the university code for the Drama Theatre Acting major.

Theatre Acting is a specialized field of study in the performing arts. The program focuses on developing skills in acting, speaking and performing on stage, including drama and singing.

In the course, students will be trained in the following aspects: Acting (learning how to portray roles through emotional expression, using body language, voice and other acting techniques); Acting techniques (stage performance techniques, including how to use stage space, lighting, sound and costumes to create the best effect); Singing and music (training in singing techniques, acting through music and other elements of the art of singing on stage); Dance and movement (students learn how to move, dance and use the body to create different performance styles on stage).
