Efforts to mobilize students in the mountainous area of Dien Bien to return to class after Tet holiday.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quynh, Principal of Chung Chai Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, Chung Chai Commune, shared: The reason why students have not returned to school fully is because the commune is located in a mountainous area, with some villages more than 20km from the school, along with the influence of local customs and practices.

According to Mr. Quynh, after Tet, the school board sent teachers directly to each family to encourage and explain to parents the importance of studying.

"Mobilizing children to go to school after Tet is still difficult. Many children are busy enjoying the spring and Tet holiday and still do not want to go to school. Many parents are asking for their children to stay home this week and return to school early next week," Mr. Quynh added.

Mr. Pham Tien Cong, Principal of Muong Nhe Boarding Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, said: The school is located in the center of the district, so it is easier to mobilize students to go to class. Parents are also highly aware, creating conditions for their children to go to school regularly.

Teachers coordinated with local authorities, parents' associations, and village chiefs to encourage students to attend school immediately after the holiday. As a result, the number of students absent from school to date has been negligible, with the attendance rate reaching over 97%.

According to a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Muong Nhe district, to overcome this situation, the department has directed schools to continue to urgently mobilize students to attend class to ensure the program and plan of the school year.

Accordingly, schools assign female teachers to stay at school to teach, while the remaining male teachers are assigned to go to each village and each house to meet parents and encourage students to go to school.

It is known that in the 2024-2025 school year, Muong Nhe district has 37 schools at 3 levels: preschool, primary and secondary school with a total of 17,048 students. Of which, over 90% are ethnic minority students, mainly children of the Mong ethnic group.
