This is the first time Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy has recruited and trained students in the field of social sciences.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Khoi - Head of University Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the school will enroll students in the university-level social work program from the 2025-2026 school year with an expected target of 60 students.
The school considers admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam - math and physics or biology, chemistry.
The training period for social work is 4 years. Graduates are awarded a bachelor's degree in social work.
According to the school's leaders, training in social work is consistent with the mission, vision, and development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, becoming a multidisciplinary university in the field of health sciences.
The social work profession is receiving attention from the Government, ministries, especially in the health sector, to support and provide comprehensive psychological and social care for patients. Therefore, opening a bachelor's degree in social work will meet the needs of human resource development in the locality, region and country.
After graduation, students majoring in social work at the school are able to meet job requirements in the following positions: officers, specialists, social workers in social work departments/offices of central, provincial and district hospitals; schools and socio-political organizations; departments and branches; social facilities; psychological counseling centers; early intervention and education units...
Bachelor of social work can study postgraduate (master, doctorate) in and outside the country in training programs related to the fields of social sciences and health: social work, public health, psychology, sociology, anthropology, health management, health sciences, behavioral sciences.
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine increases enrollment quota
Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine has announced information on undergraduate enrollment in 2025.
The school will increase enrollment targets (compared to 2024 targets) for some majors: traditional medicine (increase 20%), nursing (increase 10%), pharmacy (increase 30%). The remaining majors will not adjust enrollment targets compared to last year.
The school is expected to implement 6 admission methods in 2025: high school graduation exam results; direct admission according to the regulations of the admission regulations; using the results of the capacity assessment test, thinking assessment organized by other units for admission; using international certificates for admission; combining high school graduation exam results with international certificates for admission; using other methods.
The school does not change the combination of admission subjects for the admission method based on high school exam results compared to the 2024 university admission plan. Foreign language subjects are not applied in the secondary criteria when considering equal scores compared to last year.
