This is the first time the international standard Semiconductor Technology program at the college level has been transferred to Vietnam, BTEC FPT - International Linkage System. FPT Polytechnic College officially became the first college-level educational institution in Vietnam to train in Semiconductor Technology.

With an international quality program, this cooperation will contribute to the goal of training semiconductor human resources in Vietnam, promoting the development of the semiconductor industry in the future.

Mr. Le Tuan Dung, Director of Pearson Vietnam, Mr. Vu Chi Thanh - Principal of FPT Polytechnic College signed the cooperation agreement.

Students studying Semiconductor Technology at BTEC FPT will be among the first generation of personnel in Vietnam to receive formal, systematic training and have great career opportunities when entering the industry.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh said that the General Department of Vocational Education has high expectations for this cooperation.

“As Mr. Truong Gia Binh once said about digital transformation: “We must be fast”. So, how will speed be achieved in the semiconductor industry? First, we must be fast in the combination between the state, businesses and schools.

Second, we are very fast in applying internationally standardized programs. With the combination of the above two factors, we are delighted that FPT Polytechnic College and BTEC FPT immediately transferred international programs to train semiconductor human resources in Vietnam," said Mr. Binh.

With the transfer of training programs from the UK and knowledge, international standard curriculum framework, Mr. Pham Vu Quoc Binh expects this will create quality human resources.

Mr. Iain Frew - British Ambassador to Vietnam said that 2023 is a special year between Vietnam and the UK as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.

“This is a special event, marking a new milestone in the educational partnership between the two countries. I am delighted that FPT Polytechnic is one of the first schools to offer a semiconductor technology training program from Pearson UK to provide a workforce for the industry,” he said.

At the event, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Board of Directors, once again shared FPT's vision, ambition and specific steps in the semiconductor chip industry.

According to Mr. Binh, semiconductor chip manufacturing is not only a domestic industry but also an international industry. “Therefore, international cooperation will bring Vietnam to a big game,” he emphasized.

He also said that this industry needs a huge number of personnel with many different specialties. Semiconductor chip engineers, masters, and PhD students have been and are being promoted to train. In addition, the semiconductor chip industry needs a lot of practical engineers, technicians, and related personnel.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh shared that semiconductor chip manufacturing is an international industry.

The semiconductor industry has long been known as the "backbone" of the technological era, the foundation of modern computing.

With a particularly important role in the context of the world entering a period of explosive research, application and development of new technologies such as: AI, IoT, 5G, Big Data... the semiconductor chip industry is being researched and prioritized for development by advanced countries. Therefore, joining the semiconductor industry not only brings great opportunities for businesses and information technology corporations but also brings many opportunities for thousands and tens of thousands of modern technology personnel.

Recently, FPT announced its strategy to pursue the semiconductor chip industry and determined that, along with AI, iOT, automotive software technology, etc., this will be one of the group's key strategies in the coming time.

In order to meet the demand for human resources in the semiconductor industry, FPT also announced the opening of a semiconductor engineering training course in October. The signing of the transfer of the semiconductor technology program between FPT Polytechnic College and Pearson UK education organization is the next step to solve the human resource problem.
