China issues new version of C/O from September 1, 2024

From September 1, 2024, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will issue a new version of the Certificate of Origin (C/O), the C/O number will be changed from 16 digits to 17 digits.

According to a source from the General Administration of Customs, from September 1, 2024, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) will issue a new version of the Certificate of Origin (C/O).

Accordingly, based on the announcement of the competent authority issuing C/O of China on the C/O issuance system of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the General Administration of Customs has notified the Customs departments of provinces and cities about updating the CCPIT system.

Specifically, according to the announcement of the General Department of Customs, the C/O reference number issued by CCPIT is still according to the old version of 16 digits.

From September 1, 2024, CCPIT will issue C/O according to the new version, the C/O reference number will be adjusted to 17 digits and the authenticity of C/O issued by CCPIT will be checked on the website http://check.ecoccpit.net (issued by the new system).

The General Department of Customs said that during the transition period, the Customs authority accepts C/O with C/O reference number in both versions.

Import and export with the Chinese market grew strongly in the first 7 months of 2024. The total two-way import and export turnover was approximately 113 billion USD, an increase of nearly 25% over the same period, being the market with the largest trade exchange, followed by the US, EU...

Of which, exports reached 33.4 billion USD, up 7.5%, equivalent to an increase of nearly 2.4 billion USD compared to the same period last year. Imports witnessed a rapid increase, reaching 79.2 billion USD, up 34.9% compared to the same period.

Recently, Vietnamese enterprises have been effectively taking advantage of free trade agreements with China to increase exports.

Total export turnover using preferential C/Os under FTAs ​​in 2023 will reach 86.1 billion USD, accounting for 37.35% of Vietnam's total export turnover of 230.5 billion USD to FTA markets. Of which, preferential C/Os (Form E and RCEP) issued to Vietnamese goods exported to China ranked first with a value of more than 19.4 billion USD.
